Upgrade to 64-Bit Windows .. thats the only “real” solution.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Instead of roaming the forums telling people to upgrade to 64-Bit Windows in every thread, why don’t you try to help them instead? I run XP, it works fine. On my 64-bit Mac on the other hand, I have crashes every 10 minutes after today’s patch.

You are NOT the OP, so whats your problem ? Also XP need less memory than Vista or Win7, so yes the Client take longer to reach the critical 2 GB mark under XP, howver i will not tell people that the solution is to downgrade on XP.

And btw. for me upgrading to 64-Bit Vista was already the solution some year agao when i played Age of Conan, that also crashed every now and then because of the 2 GB Limit of 32-Bit Windows. And at that time i still had XP.

It does indeed look like the OP is running out of memory due to the 32 bit OS limitation, but it’s a combination of GW2 and system resources. It’s up to the program and the Windows kernal to determine what gets swapped to the page file.

Here’s what stands out to me:

—> System Memory <—
Physical: 1056MB/ 3549MB 29%
Paged: 1796MB/ 5110MB 35%
Virtual: 112MB/ 2047MB 5%

CommitTotal: 3313MB <—— Max memory usage for a 32 bit OS
CommitLimit: 5110MB <—— This includes the swap file data = max reserved
CommitPeak: 4536MB <—— Max actual usage, RAM + page file
SystemCache: 994MB
HandleCount: 23726
ProcessCount: 52
ThreadCount: 687

One thing the OP can do is lower graphics settings. Another thing to try would be adding the 3 G switch; which changes max process memory to 3 Gig instead of 2 Gig and changes system process memory from 2 Gig to 1 Gig (still 4 Gig total).

Here’s how to add the 3 Gig switch to the “boot.ini” file:

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-enable-a-3GB-switch-on-Windows-Vista-Windows-7-or-Windows-XP-s.html

As far as I know the above will work with Windows 8, but I haven’t tested it.

Edited to add: If the above doesn’t work with Windows 8, you can manually add the 3 G switch to the boot.ini file:

http://dwf.blogs.com/beyond_the_paper/2009/04/enabling-3gb-switch-on-windows-vista.html
