Hello,

I was having problems with my game; I was having game crashes ever 10 minutes.

So, I decided to uninstall and reinstall the game again. I took the game out of the hard case for the second time since I purchase it, I put it inside the DVD-room and the DVD-room made weird noises and would not read the Guild Wars 2 DVD. So i took it out and to my surprise, the DVD got a perfectly round, 0.5 inch width scratch. Now every time I put the game inside the computer, it would say “please insert a disk into the DVD-room” In other words, the computer cannot read the Guild Wars 2 DVD.

I tried and tried for like 10 times and finally the computer was able to read the DVD. I am currently, as I type, installing the Guild Wars 2 game, but I am not sure if it will fully install. Anyway, I was wondering if there is some sort of warranty where you could return the 2 DVD and get a replacement.

Thank you

NOTE: the DVD-room makes 3 weird noises every 1 second, but the installation is on 25%.

There are DVD scratch repair kits sold at most electronics stores and electronics departments of department stores and shouldn’t cost much at all. The data should still be uncorrupted on the disc as a surface scratch only prevents reading of the data. Only if the scratch is actually a gouge and physically damaged the written data will a scratch repair kit not work to repair the disc.

Also, to prevent the DVD from getting scratched again you may look to make sure there is no debris in the DVD tray. You should also consider getting a laser lens cleaner so any dust buildup doesn’t cause another scratch to the DVD or read errors.

You can also download the installation without need of a disk.

I also recommend you make a backup copy of the fresh installation with patches somewhere else on the computer so you can just copy over the data from the backup installation instead of fully reinstalling and downloading all of the updates again in the future.

I would also recommend running the -repair utility on your damaged installation before resorting to a full uninstall/reinstall.

You really don’t seem to have any luck with this game, looking at some of your previous posts,

Its unlikely that Anet can do anything here, even if they did offer a warranty on such things chances are it would be via the store that you bought it from,

Also the game is a year old now, there have been several gig’s worth of updates over the year, the dvd install is just the basic client, and will require you to download every update since launch as soon as you start it up,

Your best bet would be to download the client, and run the -image command to make sure you get it all, then back up the gw2.dat file, this would stop you having to install everytime, as you can just copy the dat file back in, if you do this I would recommend you back it up after every major game update.

I always make a backup of the .dat file just in case. Be it a dvd, usb drive or external hdd.

Thanks I did not know we could download the game like that.

I just need disk 1 since that is the disk that got damaged. How can I download that only since my internet is not that fast downloading stuff.
