hi guys, for me it’s time to change my old laptop(acer 5935g bought on april 2010).

the point is, now i play without big problem(just a little lag) in PvE but when I go in WvW or join in events like behe or fire elemental, I have a lot of lag(i change graphic options at lowest level but i keep on with lags… playing is annoying in this way… it seems like i’m drunk).

So, since my budget is limited, I found this one: HP Pavilion 15-N042sl
In short, characteristic(i couldn’d find a description in english since i’m italian):

CPU Intel® Core™ i7-4500U (1,8 GHz, 4 MB di cache, dual core)
RAM 8 GB di DDR3L
HD SATA da 750 GB (5400 rpm)
GPU NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M 2 GB DDR3

It would be ok to resolve the problems of lag? Thank for helping a girl in advance

You will still have lag with that laptop because its a dual core mobile Ulv cpu. Ulv cpu’s use less voltage then regular i7 mobile cpu’s and thus its weaker as the game is cpu based in player crowded area’s

Second the GT 740m is is a rebranding of 640m with higher clock speeds and etc. You would probably run on medium settings with shaders and etc on low.

You’ll get more performance if you use that budget for a desktop. Also even 1500+ usd laptops dont run as well as budget gaming desktops.

Actually no that laptop will not lag. Well, not under regular play but in WVW and huge events it’ll see trouble. It won’t perform as well as a quad core i7 or a full i5 mobile but it’ll still do good for how far it can turbo.
Keep in mind that i5 and i7 have turbo boost, and this applies to all i5 and i7 processors.
That i7 will run at a maximum of 3 GHz (maybe 2.8 on some core configuration or something) but the point is it’ll always run at turbo speeds under a load, or higher than the rated speed which in this case is 1.8 GHz. (best run in High Performance mode)

The GT740M/GT640M will let you play between medium and high settings fairly well if the machine is at a 1366×768 resolution.

Personally I’d look for something other than an HP brand laptop. Perhaps an Asus or an MSI of the same caliber.

Do yourself a favor and don’t get an HP. They’re heatboxes and not incredibly well built.

Go for Lenovo or some other better brand.

I recently had to purchase a new laptop on which I wanted to be able to play Gw2, and since I mainly play in WvW I thought I couldn’t cut it even with a high specs laptop.
Luckily I was wrong, with a high specs laptop I can play in wvw just as fine as I do it on my Desktop.

Anyway, I am italian too and finding a good laptop at agood price is a tough quest for us.
I finally found the laptop I wanted and got it from a British company that sells custom laptop for very good prices.

Mine has:
i7 4700MQ
8GB RAM 1600MHz
GTX 765M
750GB HDD (+ 2 free mSATA ports, one of which is soon to be filled with an SSD)
1920×1080 screen resolution 13.3"

..and all of that at 1000€ (delivered), from pcspecialist.co.uk

In their website you can try and configure varios laptop.. defaults have a very low spec / low cost Pentium Dual Core CPU which you will need to upgrade (personally I wouldn’t go lower than an i5 4200M), but swapped the CPU for a decent one and the base 2GB for at least 4GB (and 8GB doesn’t really result in a big price tag difference) and you find yourself with a very good laptop compared to any similarly priced one from italian resellers!

Since you’re getting a Z77 mainboard, I’d say that it would likely be more beneficial to obtain the i5 3570K since it would be easier to overclock if you ever did decide you wanted to. However, you’ll be able to overclock an i5 3350P as well, but it will not be as easy. Of course, if you don’t want to overclock you don’t have to. I just personally like having the best chipset, so I’d buy a Z77/Z87 as well

You made me raise my budget, you know? I see that the difference between i5 3350p and i5 3750k is only 40 euros and the one you adviced me is better… well, i need to work just a little more
