Catalyst 12.11 promises up to 15% performance improvements in the most modern games, such as Battlefield 3, DiRT Showdown, Sleeping Dogs, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, and more. With these improvements, AMD is claiming performance leads for all its top products, over NVIDIA’s. The Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition, for example, gains 20% performance advantage over GeForce GTX 680; HD 7970 gains 15% over GTX 670, and HD 7950 20% over GTX 660 Ti. The Never Settle driver, along with its complete release notes and download links will be updated a little later today.

Sounds very very promising. Lets hope this fixed GW2 FPS problems!

Cant wait, my HD 7870 wont run at 100% useage unless I use ver. 12.6. Any other ver. only runs it at 64% max. I know I should be geting better then 15 fps in zergs. This better fix it or its going on ebay.

Well I’m pretty sure the “FPS Problems” mentioned on these forums is a wide array of underlying issues, be it software or hardware. I just wouldn’t want to get everyone’s hopes too high when their issue may or may not be driver related.

That said, I’m very interested in folks’ experiences before and after! It does sound promising…

I tested these this morning before they pulled them due to down clocking 2d bug…very nice improvement across the board my fps jumped in LA by about 15-20 fps I was already getting about 60 but def. helps with smoothness also improved in WvW but not as much due to WvW being mostly cpu bound but still an improvement overall…my specs are…

i5 2550k 4.8ghz
msi 7870 2gb

Won´t help one kitten bit when the kittening client doesn´t want to use my CPUs, leaving them at 30-40%.
Also very much likely centered on Win7 performance and bugs again, so Meh for me.

But we´ll see.

Just downloaded and installed and wow what a difference. For the first time I see 100 FPS.

I swear I can never win. Been on the fence for months what cards to push eyefinity/surround. Finally grab the gtx 670 4gb for plans to sli later and then this. I’m gonna wait for benchmarks and see how this one 670 runs in gw2. If it has problems like I read a lot of 6xx users have then I’m selling it and going xfire sapphire 7970. Not to mention the bus speed on 7970 I might just go eyefinity catleaps

I can’t wait to try this out. I currently have a single 3GB AMD 7970 Ghz edition powering an eyefinity setup (5760×1200). I’ll have to give an update later on what type of improvements I obtain. For most of the reviews I looked at improvements tend to be on lower resolutions (ex: 1920×1200), high-resolution setups have marginal/slight improvements.

If you want to run eyefinity, I highly recommend a 7970 Ghz edition. A single card is enough to power my eyefinity setup (With everything max, LoD+Shadows Ultra, on average 40-50 fps, drops to ~30 on huge battles) but perhaps if you want a smooth 60+ crossfire would be the way to go.

7870 owner here,getting 15 FPS in LA since launch lets see if this version fixes it

It’s probably worth mentioning that the new drivers wont fix the culling issue when turning the camera but I was able to clock my cpu down to 4.4 ghz and still get 60-70 fps in LA with the new drivers. Where it may have been 50-55~ before. Over all Ive seen about a 10-15% difference in performance (higher fps) than with 12.9 betas.

I love you OP. I’m downloading it now and unfortunately I actually just reformatted my comp so I have to Re-DL GW2 and check this out tomorrow. Even if this doesn’t fix my FPS issues, I’m happy someone posted this on the forums and is looking out for other AMD players. Especially since ANet hasn’t responded much. Thanks.

Unfortunatly this doesnt affect 5xxx or 6xxx series at all :/ These driver apparently started taking use of a “tech for the future thingy” only incorperated in the 7xxx series card.

7870, no improvement here, still stuck at 40% gpu usage

Sounds like a CPU bottleneck

cpu is costantly at 60 % i don’t think it’s bottlenecking. tried to overclock and almost nothing changed

btw i’m getting 80-90 fps pve, 50-55 lion’a arch , 20-25 w vs w down to 15 with more than 60-70 people: unplayable

Thanks for the heads up! Not sure if it will help my aging 5850 but have been checking almost every day for update and have it downloading now.
