Guild Wars 2

Hi, I will be building a new PC soon but i can’t make up my mind on a GPU i would like something around $300. I have looked at the gtx 660 ti but a little unsure about it. How is the 660 ti or should i get another nivida card. I also looked at the HD 7870 but i really don’t know much about those cards. Any suggestions would be nice and appreciated.

The specs im looking at atm are:
– i5-3570K
– 8 Gb ram
– 600 W pcu

edit – the 7950 looks good, how is that gpu?

What do you plan on playing this this ?

GW2 is having huge issues with nVidia right now. People with that card and even better are getting absolutely awful fps and not all can be attributed to user error – so it’s not a safe bet if you want to play this game on great settings right away. Hopefully they get it fixed…

The HD 7870 would be fine, too, about the same performance. Same for 7950.

Also, remember to get a good PSU. If you’re investing so much in parts, you don’t want to lose them to a crappy PSU. Prepare to pay at least $60, $90 would be a safer bet and get you more features.

And remember to get an aftermarket CPU cooler if you’re overclocking. If you won’t be overclocking, you don’t need the -k suffix processor.

7950 is the BEST card you can buy with $300. Nothing else beats it in value and performance at that price level. And it’s far better than 660ti, which is priced similarly.

As for GW 2, I have no clue which is better.

Well i plan on playing other games along with GW2. I am leaning to the 7950 but i always see complants on other games about the drivers, but i’m not sure i’m just used to nividia cards. I do want the 3570K as i may OC it. ALso would duel 7950s be good and if so what W should my PSU be if i do go crossfire or at lest plan on it in the future?

That is very untrue about nvidia having issues. I’m using GTX670 and not one problem. it varies on people system and how it is configured.
