Q:
New laptop still runs on low FPS
A:
sounds like you are running on the IGP (the Intel one) Instead of the AMD HD7670M.
Verify your GPU settings to ensure that your Dedicated Card is being used. You can verify this by downloading and installing GPU-Z, there will be a drop down at the bottom that shows you both of the GPUs, select your HD7670 then open the Sensor Tab and look at utilization %.
On that setup You should be getting 63FPS at the character selection screen, 35FPS in LA, and 40-60FPS almost anywhere else (Graphic Settings Depending).
But mind you, the HD7670M is not that powerful of a GPU. I highly suggest turning shadows down to Low and Shaders down to Medium. Disable Post Processing and set Character Limit to Low.
that will help to speed that GPU up once you verify that you are actually running on it.

This indeed seems to be the problem, now it’s quite the search in how to switch it around because it seems there are many who have the same issue and haven’t found a way to set their games to the AMD either. Right now working on drivers and other required programs to perhaps be more fortunate.

Get into your Laptops Bios, there might be an option to set the Graphics to ‘high Performance’. I know that some later HP notebooks included this feature to fix this issue as the software is very buggy when switching from intel IGP to AMD/Nvidia Discrete.

That’s right mate. You have to enter the graphics driver options and set up “Guild wars 2” to ALWAYS run on the ATI chip. I have a pavilion model with 6gb ram (the rest is the same) and FPS is great even in “high-populated” locs.

actually there’s no BIOS graph settings, the last 1-2 years it must be set up via OS
9-12 FPS, if in LA or other busy area’s is perfectly understandable for that laptop.
But if ur in open PvE area’s , then the 7670m should be giving better FPS than that.

I have an HP DV6z (AMD 7690M and A8-3550MX-6620G). I have to use the AMD CCC utility to switch between which Card to use. But on my Wifes HP DV6 with a i5 and 7670M she has a Bios Option for ‘Performance/Standard’ in her bios to force the system to switch between the intel HD Graphics and the AMD 7670M.

Probably because that’s “dv6”, not Pavilion G7 like we have
They all use the same BIOS base. Just certain functions are hidden/disabled based on I/O Substructure. Saves on R&D software costs.

so?
what are u trying to argue?
there are still NO graph options there, and you still DON’T need to enter bios
Hit it with a pipe wrench.
Quick suggestion, open Power Options in Windows, and make sure it is set to High Performance and not Power Saver or Balanced.

I did the latter on the Intel GPU. I have not been able to access my AMD GPU thusfar and not been able to make the game/laptop run on it either it actually is marked as “blocked” everywhere.
I’ve not been into BIOS yet and for some odd reasons can’t access CCC either
Well, I can get my laptop to run on the correct GPU now. But it seems that my game keeps crashing instead after having updated all drivers of Intel HD and Radeon HD. So one issue fixed and several new ones created.
And another update on the situation. If I go into CCC switchable gfx and put GW onto high performance it won’t let me launch the game. If I put it on power saving it will work just “fine” on 15-20 FPS in Divinity’s Reach/Login screen. This still feels awfully low and I want to fix the crashing problem. Do I have to turn Intel lower instead?

You need to update the drivers for that laptop in a special order, or the issue you are having…happens.
Uninstall all Intel iGPU and AMD GPU Software, then reboot.
Then download and install the latest Intel iGPU Software, then Reboot
Then Download and Install AMD 13.4 (the 13.9 Drivers are currently broken for Laptops with Switchable Graphics, 13.4 was the Last good working Driver for Laptops. Alternatively you can Download and Install AMD 12.10, that is the oldest Driver that will fully support GW2), then Reboot.
You should be able to get the older AMD Drivers from guru3d.com if you search for them, AMD’s Website No longer keeps an Archive of Drivers.
Then go into CCC and set the Performance Profile for the GW2.EXE application, then run the game.

I have tried this, but every driver I wanted to download from that site denied me the download and redirected me to AMD site itself. Those drivers there for my model of laptop also were different versions than the one mentioned here above.
As a result:
The Intel drivers FOR my model = install did not work because it said my laptop did not meet the requirements.
AMD drivers = Installed perfectly and seems my Intel GPU is working anyway.
Now I am still not capable of running GW on the dedicated GPU of AMD because each time I select “High performance” on the switchable gfx GW1 refuses to launch and I get immediate crash errors even before I get to log in. This is getting increasingly frustrating to run on 15 FPS knowing I could have twice (if not more) but my computer won’t let me.
I spent all this money to replace an old crashing machine that gave me nothing but trouble and in the end the quality of my gaming experience is not even improved. The problem of switchable graphics is apparently common but now that I know the solution and it won’t work I’m getting rather irritated with it.

Your going to have to contact whoever made your laptop for Driver support. This is something that should be working out of the box.

Right, I did a soft format on the laptop. Basicly restored to factory defaults without losing files. This included a clean install of GW and everything else basicly.
From the start CCC worked and switchable GFX too. Game does not crash on High Performance.
Now I either still have something wrong or the limit of my laptop is reached.
Settings are on Medium/Low (I do want a bit of eyecandy too mind <.<) Shadow, postrpocessing etc are on low. The extra boxes are not ticked. And ingame in Sparkfly Fen (not a very busy zone) I reach 23 FPS.
I can’t say I’m very happy with that, if people on similar/same setup as me play on 40-60 and unless they put their game to full kittenty GFX with everything off and on low I’m really confused what the hell is making me have these issues.
