Nvidia Inspector really does help with FPS for me

Namely, overvolting card, thus increasing GPU clock. I didn’t believe it, but it worked for me.
Yes, it turns up the heat. Yes, it may reduce the lifespan of your card. So if you want to call me a kitten for doing that, just stop right there. I am not forcing you to do anything. Go on with your life and pretend I didn’t say anything.
What I’m saying is, I turned up the voltage from 0.987V to 1.000V and alt-tabbed back into GW2, to my great surprise I watched the FPS rise from 30-40 to around 80. Mind you, that FPS didn’t last long, it dropped to around 50, but stayed at all times around 10-15 FPS higher than usual the whole gameplay of roughly 40 minutes, didn’t have time for more.
The usage of the card rose from the usual 20-30% to around 70-90%. GPU temperature rose by around 10-15 degrees.
I will try to fiddle with Inspector when I get back from work, so if I find a pattern, I will post back.
System: Windows 7 64-bit, 8GB RAM, Athlon X2 5200+, GTX560. Yes the proc is old and I thought that’s the cause of my lower-ish FPS, but hey, the card just showed me something different. To me, this example shows GW2’s engine is not taking full advantage of the card for some reason. All my performance and energy saving settings are set to high performance both on GPU and system.
Thanks to the guy in the other thread that posted this solution a few days ago!
It worked for me. I am not claiming it will work for you. Information is there, do with it as you please.

Please update if you manage to fix anything further.
There IS something wrong with the game. I played it perfectly until yesterday morning and now I can’t get over 15 fps. Which is painfully the start of the first day of my vacation I took to play the game.. because I was enjoying it so much.
Now I have my entire vacation to spend wasting my time with this instead of enjoying it. -.-
I have sent tickets, and posted on the forums here about it. I am encouraging anyone else experiencing it to make sure AN knows they are having a problem and that this isn’t the pc. I have spoken to a few people that completely upgraded the machine with the same results. 10-20 FPS in all areas.
I will try your idea and see if it helps because I have literally tried everything else. Thank you for sharing your results.

You’ll never get those type of fps with that CPu. Sorry. Also, increasing the gpu volts did nothing. Placebo effect.

DaveK…Cbuzz is right, what you’re doing right now has little to no effect on the game, but has a great effect of ending up with a destroyed gpu, volt increase on gpu is usually not needed unless your going for some serious oc,and dont want your gpu to last very long. The game is CPU limited,i can oc my gpu all i want with no fps increase. On the otherhand if i oc my cpu i see massive fps increase.

Bro that voltage jump is fine gpu’s are made to last…some of these folks are just way to on the omg itll die if i oc it or over volt…I had a 560 ti before and ran it 1.075v for 2 years and now my friend has it and runs still awesome those cards are trucks…dont let them talk you down man.

Caedmon:
As I said, I am not forcing anyone to copy what I did, so please don’t be concerned about the damage to my or anyone else’s GPU.
Frankly, don’t tell me what I did or didn’t see. Were you like looking from behind my back to say I’m making this up ?
If I tell you it happened, you may or may not believe me, that’s your choice based on your experiences, but it won’t change the fact this made a difference for me.
Does it seem illogical ? Probably.
Did it happen ? Absolutely and I don’t plan to keep convincing every kitten that comes around.

Point is that its Not needed for this game,But whatever you want mate, imo its your ancient athlon thats holding you back. But hey keep bumping up that gpu voltage if you think that’s best.

He’s not kidding. Overvolting your GPU does absolutely nothing for performance. Repeatedly saying you did the impossible doesn’t make it any more possible.
If you overvolted AND overclocked….possibly, or overclocked, and didn’t overvolt, possibly. Overvolting is just putting more juice through the GPU and generating more heat. It is simply not possible to get greater performance by overvolting alone.

Yes his cpu doesn’t help however stabilizing his voltage on his gpu can and probably did help some…you should research this….

When I switched my card from 0.987V to 1.000V, my GPU clock jumped from 850MHz to 892MHz. Now what matey ? Did I overclock it while overvolting it or what ? I did say in my first post “…thus increasing GPU clock”. Sorry, I can’t teach you to read.

People are trying to give you advice, warning you about gpu damage and upping voltage not being recommended.Yet you like to behave like a kitten against people trying to help.Congrats with that mate, ill just leave you at it then.

I did ask you not to be concerned about damage to my GPU. Do you usually repeatedly feel the need to argue other people’s decisions ? And you are telling me I behave like a kitten ? :-)
Yes, leave me at it, please, thanks, bye. Geez.

Over react much ?
Upping the voltage is not nearly as dangerous as you make it out to be , not by a longshot.
I got my 560ti @985mhz and its memory @2100 @1.1v has been running stable for a year.
