Looks fine.

If gaming is your only purpose and don’t use things that utilize hyperthreading a 3570K would be better. Save about $100, and put that towards the purchase of a SSD.

What exactly does a SSD do and is it a must to have?

SSD is much faster. OS/Apps will launch quicker. Won’t have to worry about fragmentation. Overall snappier desktop experience.

Tested on my i5-3570K system.
From desktop launch to Lion’s Arch map load.

Samsung 830 SSD = 12s
Seagate 3TB (defragged) = 35s

Hmm, so does that mean the SSD would replace the HDD altogether or can I combine them?

I took your advice on the i5-3570k. With a closer look, I wouldn’t even need the hyper threading.

SSD for OS/Applications/Games
HDD for media/data files etc.

Works better like this. If you ever need to reformat or install OS again, your documents/data is stored on the 2nd HDD

Looks pretty good, great deal on the hs 7970 btw, those 3 are awesome games and will do much better use of that videocard than GW2. Thumbs up for that build!

What do you suggest would be the better card for GW2?

7970 will run GW2 very well, he is just saying GW2 won’t utilize it fully. Nothing wrong with that. The card will actually run cooler since it doesn’t have to work at 100% load.

If you want to spend less but still get excellent FPS See Part 2.2 for list of Parts

Nice build BUT.

your getting a K version CPU, and if u want the best experiance GW2 has ot offer u will want to OC it ..to around 4.5ghz. What CPu cooler r u going to get or got already ?

I sugest at minimum a Coolermaster Evo 212. Should manage 4.2 to 4.4ghz …4.5ghz if ur lucky wiht the CPU and tweek for low voltage.
If u have the money get a Noctua NH-D14 cooler and change ur RAM to G.Skill. If u get this cooler it requirs low profile RAM, most of Corsairs range are to tall.

3930k 4.6ghz | NH-D14 Cooler | P9x79 Pro MB | 16gb 1866mhz G.Skill | 128gb SSD + 2×500gb HDD
