Q:
Optimization
Dude, you KNOW the answer to this. It has been discussed between you and I several times over the last few months.
So why even post a new thread on this topic now?

You didnt answer – and NO i Dont know answer to this – just like you. Thats why i am asking others.
If you dont know the aswers pls dont reply
the answer is not unless NCSoft says yes, and they can allocate budget.
Since Anet doesn’t actually own GW2, they just manage it, NCsoft are the ones that ultimately says yes or no. and from a business standpoint I can tell you 100% certain the current answer is NO.

Actually … ANet does own the IP, GW and GW2. There’s a poison pill clause in contract when NCSOFT bought ANet all those years ago. If NCSOFT divests ANet, ANet keeps the GW and GW2 IP.
NCSOFT is more of a sugar daddy during the development cycles. A bank or a book/music publisher providing an advance against future royalties.

Sorry, but wrong;

ArenaNet is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Korean company NCsoft
The owner of the child company that makes the products, are the ones who dictate when and where funds are allocated for future releases. Not the child companies themselves.
While NCSoft has no ‘direct ownership’ over GW2 (they actually leave that up to Anet) they solely have the rights to tell Anet what and what not to work on relating to NCsofts investments.
And that is why I can predict if/when any API changes are coming to GW2. And my predictions are based on a large influx of cash flow. Which would only be garnered via a Subscription (Rumor says thats hitting the Chinese market), or an expansion (Rumors say MAYBE there is an expansion in the works, nothing confirmed)

So NCSoft decide…
-I just thinking to buy PS4 or XO, because there MMOs may run much smoother… but problem is “price”. So we have 2 choices – he sell PS4 – build new PC and buy GW2 or i buy PS4 and MMO (like skyrim online)
So they didnt give any info about further optimization?
Yes, I know it’s an wholly own subsidiary, I’ve been tracking NCSOFT since 2004. But I’m telling you, NCSOFT can’t simply close ArenaNet, all they can do is divest it and ANet keeps the GW1+2 IP. I can’t say how or why I know, but I do.
The original creators of ArenaNet had already seen publishers buying up game developers for the IP and discard the company (EA, Ubisoft) and didn’t want that to happen to them. So there is a dissolution clause in the sales agreement to prevent NCSOFT simply shutting them down and running off with the IP.
Did you know that ArenaNet for instance hired it’s own advertising firm for the GW2 rollout in NA and EU? NCSOFT corporate which controlled advertising for all of their native titles in NA and EU as well as previous NA based titles had nothing to do with GW2’s ad campaign. It was only after GW2 stupendous opening month or two of sales that NCSOFT dumped it’s existing agency and signed the one that ArenaNet used.
This is why when the first two quarterly conference calls ANet was able to contradict what NCSOFT said about expansions. They may be “owned” but they are very much autonomous to the main office in Seoul, unlike NCEurope and NC Interactive which are micromanaged by Seoul. So NCSOFT gets to count all of ArenaNet’s income as their own and as long as ArenaNet is profitable then NCSOFT is happy. But if NCSOFT becomes dissatisfied with ArenaNet, all they can do is let ArenaNet go, taking their IP with them including the name ArenaNet.
At the time NCSOFT bought ArenaNet, it was a relatively small game company in South Korea. Yet they were given a chance to buy a 2 year old company that included some of the Blizzard employees behind Diablo, Warcraft and Starcraft. And in a country crazy for Starcraft that’s like signing Lucas, Spielberg and Scorsese to an exclusive 10 year contract to your movie studio. It was serious bragging rights, didn’t really have a lot of money so they were a bit flexible about the arrangement.

Only thing I can think of that they could implement without massive changes to the engine would be a “View Distance” slider.
However, I don’t know if the engine actually supports that feature, but if so it would improve performance.
Yep…
Also could do same as DICE did with BF4. On win7 you use DX11 on win 8.1 you use DX11.1 or with amd 7000+ gen. Mantle
Actually they implement/support 3 APIs
I would like to see DX11.1 – win 8.1 while on other OS – DX9

What did DICE do for BF4? You mean the fact that midway through DEVELOPMENT of the game, AMD brought them something to implement, while the game was still under development? Not something that was completely added out of the blue 2 years after the game’s release that was 2+ generations ahead of the game :/
You can’t compare what the DICE team did to BF4, which is a modern game mind you, to what this company does for GW2. We’ve all told you, we’d love to see change, but it simply won’t happen. If you want an actual response, you will have to have your lawyer talk with their leads, and offer them a multi-million dollar contract.

I just said that what they “can” do … i am not expecting anything! Maybe when consoles (MMOS) come out or good MMO with better optimization…
And yes i can compare BF4 and GW2 optimization. While BF4 is made to get best performance, GW2 is made for everyone (OS)- thats it!
And again i am just asking if anyone know about further optimization? So if you dont …
