….i had to run chkdsk after restart which showed everything as fine.

I tried re-updating gw2 and it made me redo the entire gw2 even though my .dat file has 18+gb in it

So i -repair the gw2 file and it still made me install the entire game again

So, what happened?

So, you computer had something unexpected happen when the game was updating whether it crashed/hanged or there was a power outage. When this happens, its highly likely that the game’s data becomes corrupted and requires a full download. I highly recommend to make a back up of the game when you have downloaded it so that if this happens in the future, you can simply paste your backup over the old gw2.dat and update from whenever the last time the back up file was updated instead of downloading the entire game again.
