Pc only has problems with GW2
You got one of best PC CPUS which can be oc’d to 4ghz easily try it so envy ;p
and second of all clean up ur hard drives and scan it for viruses.
Also open your pc case and check for dust, it might be getting a bit hotter…
There’s a small chance anyone can help you here, you will get some general advices like cleaning your pc and checking temps/usage etc. , but nothing more.
If your PC and system is clean then you’ve got same problem as 10000 ppl here and you have to wait for Anet to fix this game probably …
“Making way too much noise” sound like you’re saying “the fans speed up and make more noise than usual.” And if that’s the case, then you’re probably having an issue where something is getting too hot so the computer is throttling clock speeds to prevent that thing from completely overheating. So the first step would be to make sure the inside of the case is clean and that there is nothing around the outside of the case to block airflow.
I know form experiance that a 560ti, so long as the cpu isnt holding it back, can max out its usuage in GW2, and GW2 has the capability of making GPU’s run hot.
My Gigabyte 560ti SuperOC edition runs at very high stock OC settings 950 on the core and GW2 gets it up to 75c, the only reason the temp doesnt go higher is becouse i’ve used EVGA precision to set a custom fan speed curve.
You should do the same if you havnt, ‘most’ stock fan speed curves are not good enough. They are set to stay quiet. You need to set it to keep the GPU cool ..even if its means getting noisy. Otherwise you will experiance bad performance and potenitaly damage the gpu.
Also as Mrowqa.3861 said.. OC your CPU. You got a great gaming CPU and its the K version.. its designed to be OC’d and has alot of potential locked away. You already got a aftermarket cooler, so depending on how good it is, you can OC from 4ghz to 4.5ghz. You should be able to get somwhere between the 2.

I don’t even think this is the problem^^^, I’d say the massive 2tb hard drive is. One thing i learned is that your HDD (not exactly yours) is an EXTREME bottleneck. Try loading it up on a smaller drive or heck get a new cheap 60gb ssd and see how that works out. Just return it if that isn’t the case.
Just givin some info on the situation.

There are many points of failure in a computer and everyone has different hardware and software configurations. General advice is given because of this. Troubleshoot and process of elimination is the way, there is no magic bullet.
@RetroSamus.9860
Your system is very good, when you get random low fps, what kind of #s are you talking about, and where. What is your CPU & GPU (see Q5) loads during the random dips? What about disk activity (use resource monitor to find out)
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
Its not your computer. Their are already hundreds of posts with GW2 compatibility issues involving CPU lock up with sound still playing or slow fps. I’m in the same boat with my 3k gaming rig, but mine freezes. It works perfectly with ALL OTHER GAMES, but this one. Fix this replace this.. blah blah blah. Its not ur pc.
One day in the distant future they will hopefully fix the issue. Not sure if its with certain NVIDIA cards, CPU’s, or some combo of them, but my gaming tower has GF GTX 560 Ti – 1 GB GDDR5 as well.. and it CRASHES often with the lockup with the sound looping.. My gaming laptop is the Nvidia GTX 560M, but runs fine.
My money’s on the video card since most people reporting the problem have the 560 GTX. At least yours is only slow fps.
First of all everyone thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@Mrowqa.3861 & SolarNova.1052
I don’t really trust it to OC my cpu to be honest, with my last pc I did it wrong and killed it.
@Mrowqa.3861 & mathisk.6427
I weekly clean my pc for dust ^^.
@SolarNova.1052
I shall look at this part and see if it makes any difference.
@Jangogigalo.5320
I was already thinking of switching my hdd to an sd for my OS and Guild Wars 2.
@kirito.4138
#s what do you mean with this?
I shall follow the Q5 step and see what the usage will be. Same for the disk activity.
@Blaine.4830
It’s kinda sad that it happens to this card. I really hope they will fix this soon.

I know a lot of others also have problems, but posting my hardware and asking for tips can help the dev team as well, and maybe others that got the problems.
Retro, your system looks nice. Except that HD. try defrag it, try to run some scans and see if you got any bad sectors etc on it. I too have a 2TB fairly new, but also tested GW2 on a 60SSD and man! the speed was a lot better loading between WP and zones. Also the latest patch seems to work the cpu more, I noticed all 4 of mine running around the same with temps hitting 60-72 on all four. usually it was only 2 cores ever reaching such numbers. I think anet is trying to smooth out the game but yet push hardware more. If you got the money sitting around… try a SSD. If no improvement can always return it…
Why are some of you telling him to OC when he just says his fans starts to spin like crazy,dont even know what fans he’s talking about,might be his cpu…So thats a sign something in his pc is getting already kitten hot,and then advicing him to overclock ( wich again,increases heat alot) is imo not the smartest thing to do.How about letting him post some temps here before advicing people to oc their cpu’s while its pretty obvious the guy doesnt have a clue onw how to even manage that without breaking his system.
Calm down Caedmon.
We said what we said becouse….
It is higly likely the ‘noise’ is the gpu fan as gpu fans tend ot be alot more noisy than cpu fans. Not only that his CPU is stock ..and a sandybridge.. they dont tend to get very hot unless you have a catastrophic cooling failure.
His GPU is a factory OC’d version aswell ..meaning it likely runs hot under high load.
Bassicaly all pointers in his post point towards GPU heat ..not cpu. Then we simply advised him to OC his CPU becouse its a K version which are designed to be OC’d. In many peoples views (profesional ppl aswell) a K series intel chip that isnt OC’d to some degree ..is a waste..you might aswell have bought a non k verison for a cheaper price if u wernt going to OC.
As for not knowing how to do it ..research! ..i was out of the OC’ing loop for years ..my latest upgrade to my system in my sig required me to do extensive research on how to OC again ..since things had changed since i last tried it over 8 years ago. Anyone can OC ..so long as u read up on it.

Ocing just isnt for everyone,i just meant that he hears his pc getting louder but has no idea why it happens or what might be the cause.I think that alone would be enough to not advice anything dangerous as Ocing.Wich i might add,Does help alot with improving performance,but it just isnt for everyone to even start bothering with.I personally always oc btw,i love to do it actually,but i also know the dangers wich some people really don’t.
Well I made it more dust free then it already was XD. That improved a little. Tomorrow I will get a new case for my hardware, the case I got now is a little small so the airflow is bad.
End of the month I will have a new SSD (I was already planning on this).
Still not planning on OC-ing. I will only do this when it is really needed tbh.
