Evening,

I’m trying to improve gw2 performance. The game runs ok, but when alot of aoe happen and all those particle effects in the wvw zerging make my gw2 feel like a powerpoint presentation. I’m already using the “-dx8 -noshaders” every setting is on minimum/off, also followed advice in the sticky(regarding doing stuff in the nvidia settings).
Intel® Core™2 CPU
6300 @ 1.86GHz
1.98 GB ram
8400GS nvidia

The question is:
Would it be possible to force gw2 run at 800×600 (full screen)? Maybe through some kind of cmd line argument – searched wiki for that, but found none.

P.S. Im not seeking an “DUDE GET RID OF THAT WOODEN COMP” advice.

Thank you <3

in case that you’re using win7 or vista, you can force it to run at 640×480p at the compatibility mode options.
but as far as i know, the only way to do it is to change the screen resolution to 800×600p at your nvidia-cp or windows resolution menu (rightclick on your dekstop wallpaper) and then set it ingame to “windowed fullscreen” .

^ this.
Also, don’t expect a great improvement, just 10 or 15 fps maximum if you are really lucky (I already tried and the game code don’t allow a real improvement with just changing the resolution).
By the way, I had that gpu in my old PC and I’m really surprised you can run GW2.
Definitely “particle effects” is your worst enemy (even in GW1 I used to have massive fps drops).
Also, I think the “-dx8 -noshaders” command line don’t apply to GW2:
