I am experiencing poor performance in GW2. Even with everything on low I only just make it to 30FPS, dropping below 24 in combat. A friend of mine has a computer with very similar specifications to mine, except they have an NVIDIA GPU and they experience much better performance. 40fps with everything maxed out.

Some of my system specs are as follows;

Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-2760M CPU @ 2.4ghz (8 CPUs), ~2.4Ghz
Ram: 8192mb
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6770M, 1024mb dedicated graphics memory

Stupidly when I bought this computer, I decided to buy a MacBook Pro. However, I run Windows 7 on it 100% of the time. In saying this, I have removed the Apple graphics drivers and have the most up to date version of AMD Catalyst.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I think my machine exceeds the minimum specs, and even meets the “high performance” mark?

Why am I experiencing such bad performance? Oh, also I run dual display. I’m not sure if that effects anything.

Where are you measuring FPS? If its WvW then those fps #s are normal.

The game simply runs poorly on most machines. You’ll undoubtedly pick up a few FPS if you follow the link above. Pay special attention to the sections on CPU/GPU bottlenecks and experiment a bit to find the graphics settings that give you the best performance.

Are you running the WHQL (release) or beta drivers?

Thank you for your comments. Thank AMD driver looks promising Mif, I will download it and give it a try. Will I need to uninstall my current version of Catalyst?

Trinitas: also you may wana grab RadeonPro, for Radeon users its amazing per game profiles rock (i use it to get smaa and frame limiter)
