Poor fps on a decent rig
Sounds about right If you can overclock the cpu that would help some.
game is poorly optimized for even quad cores, and is running on directx 9. don’t take it personally.
(but also don’t expect any groundshaking changes on this). the company made their money selling the game then enticing folks into buying gems from them using real dollars.
they wouldn’t make money bridging directx 11 and appear to have no motivation to address massively experienced performance issues.
it’s been six months, and they have no plans of expansion.
overclocking may be your only bandaid here, but make sure you know what you are doing.
Depends where you are measuring your FPS.
20-30FPS with that hardware should be normal for crowded areas like Lion’s Arch.
I have a Core 2 Q6600 with Radeon 4670 and I get 30-50fps questing in PVE maps on low/medium settings. Lion’s Arch I get 15-30fps. Your CPU is slightly better than mine.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
expect fixes only when theres a profit motive behind it.
when they decide to work on an xbox720 or ps4 port for example, when they decide to make an expansion pack……those are the only things I can see driving anet to make the game use cores properly or dx11……till then, the games gonna run like what the kitten left in the litter box….
but keep in mind, the gods of this realm do not agree, and they would much prefer us to say the game runs great and if there are any problems you need to blame amd/intel/nvidia/microsoft/your isp……anybody but anet…..because, clearly this games flawless!!!!

thx for the Quick response:) so there is basicly nothing i Can do to improve fps?:)
Is there any parts i Can opgrade to get a noticable increase in fps?:)
You can overclock your CPU. That will give a performance boost. Make sure that you do diligent research on how to do it since over clocking incorrectly can damage your hardware.

OP
One thing u should know about Intel rigs. When u want to upgrade, it usualy means spending a large chunk of change as CPu upgrades usualy requir additional upgrades to go with it.
Upgrading for GW2 for example would requir a new CPU as that is where ur issue is. Unfortunatly that means a New motherboard aswell, and new RAM, so its not cheap.

What would the upgrade cost to get good fps with 50+ppl on the screen be?:)
I would wait to see how the march culling patch turns out before investing more money into new hardware. Maybe that is morning optimism talking lol.

U should be getting 40+ FPS while questing on that i5. Some ppl just don’t know how to keep their system performing at it’s maximum potential while getting old.
1. So first off open ur case and uninstall everything from ur mobo, clean dust everywhere, reapply thermal compound on the CPU and GPU, make sure u put everything back properlly, ram sticks properlly set up to take advantage of dual channel memory tech.
2. OC ur CPU to 3.4ghz/3.8ghz, should be pretty easy (there are plenity of guides about how to do it on the web), probably will require a decent cooling solution, get a CM 212 EVO 30$ and it will make ur CPU run stupidlly cool.
3. Perform a fresh install of ur OS, drivers programs everything
This should take ur PC to it’s maximum posible performance, it is a standard manteniance u should perform once per year, there are a lot of guides arround in youtube and forums about how to do this if u have any doubt. As for an upgrade u are looking at 500$/700$ upgrade for mobo+CPU+Ram, but honestlly it won’t run better enough to justify the money. Better wait for the new CPUs in june to get some decent upgrade with DDR4 memory, hopefully.

‘good’ is different for each person but the best u can get atm is 30fps (minimum drop point, 45fps+ average) and to get that it would cost in the region of $400, asuming u only need to replace the CPU, CPU cooler, motherboard, and RAM.

also, you can check for parked cores. there is a tool to easily unpark them if they are. you can check if you have any in task manager > resource monitor.
also, set your computer to run high performance (power settings).
and then you can create a batch file and shortcut it to start menu/desktop which, when run, will start GW2 in high priority.
