Hey,

I was previously experiencing an issue where my game would crash randomly, or while loading up the game/loading a map.

The crash I experienced would exit the executable file and leave me with a ‘send a report to Anet’ message.

Here is something that an Anet employee said to do for another issue dealing with connectivity. Although this was intended for another issue, it seems to have worked for me and I have yet to have a crash after loading maps numerous times that previously gave me issues!

Here are the steps: (Quoted from the Anet Employee)

“As a possible workaround/troubleshooting step I would like for you to try the following:
1. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
2. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Port Test.”
3. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
4. Edit the “Target” line to include /clientport 80 at the end.
Note: Please make sure /clientport 80 is outside of the quotes
Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” /clientport 80
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe /clientport 80”
5. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.
If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 4 again.
6. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Port Test” and try connecting again.”

My computer Specs:

Radeon 6950 OC edition, Latest AMD driver as of 9/4 (If you have a radeon get this! It is ment to help specifically for GW2)
Core i7 – 3770 processor @ 3.4ghz
8gb of Ram

Think thats really all the specs needed for the purpose of comparison.

Hope this helps! Please post if this fixes your crash so Anet can be aware of the fix for this specific issue as well!

Just in case anyone thinks this might be a breach of security or an attempt of hacking/fraud, here is a picture of the original post.

So far, it has worked. This is for my brother-in-law’s computer. Everytime he got the “Send error report”, he ALWAYS sent it, but never got a response from Anet. Apparently, and so far, it has worked. Thanks so much for posting this.

Not working for me.

I’m having the same issues with crashes at load screens, but it seems to be getting worse and now occasionally crashes mid game. Getting VERY annoying and I’ve sent the error report every time but haven’t gotten a response.

Any other thoughts?

I’ll have to give this a try. I experience the exact same issues, sometimes every 5-10 minutes, and it gets really annoying/frustrating. Especially when fast travelling. My system specs seem to be more than compatible with what the game requires, too… Thanks for sharing this. I’m at work right now, but when I get home I’ll give this a shot. If it works, I’ll update this post.

Update: It didn’t completely fix the issue, but I can go for quite awhile before I crash. Going to attempt Cruz’s fix as well, and maybe together they help.

I believe I have finally fixed my Crashing / Out Of memory/ cannot access memory issues. I tried ALOT at first ; Checking my drivers, updating my graphics card, Ran Memtest, but still kept getting error reports. I final just went into properties tab of the game exe and set the compatibility mode to Windows vista (service pack 3) And BINGO! No more crashes. I finally went 4 hours playing without a single crash. (I have 64bit Windows 7 running btw.)

That’s interesting. I’m not having any crashes, but compatibility mode might be something people could try to solve their issues.
