Q:
Question About Curiously Low FPS
A:
There’s no reason your rig shouldn’t play the game at 60-140fps at all times with everything on the absolute highest settings. So ya its partially an nvidia driver problem/ partially a game optimization problem.

I’m pretty sure this is an nvidia GTX 6XX series issue. Also, avoiding the Alienware hatred is nearly impossible, but people might be nice since you asked nicely to be excluded from it. (Although you probably paid a thousand dollars or more too much for it.)
Nice rig That is a bit curious you are getting such low fps. You are playing in fullscreen and not widowed mode correct? It may very well be nvidia drivers if that’s the case. The only reason I mentioned full screen mode is sli/crossfire won’t work in widowed mode.

Yeah, same here bro…
i7 3930k @ STOCK
Asus Rampage IV Extreme
32 GB Quad Channel DDR3 at 1600Mhz
2 x Nvidia Geforce GTX 680 SLI
256GB SSD 6GB/s Main + 3TB Storage
Win 7 Prof 64bit
As you can tell, not much a difference in our spec.
Guess what, i get really bad FPS too in WvW… (everything set to max)
Anyways, welcome to the club, your PC is fine, don’t worry about it. It’s the engine of gw2 and the current nvidia drivers.

You’ve got a double whammy here. SLI will obviously be an issue for a little while since GW2 isn’t yet supported by it, and as I previously stated, the game seems to be having issues with 6XX cards, but mainly the high-end ones.
Same counts for the OP, the GTX 690 is basically SLI

I think it’s two GPUs on one board, but yes.
I don’t play in Windowed Mode, so it would seem the Nvidia card is the problem then. That’s really unfortunate. If that is the case, do we have an ETA on when it will be supported properly by GW2?

I don’t believe so. This is an issue on Nvidia’s side, not A-nets.
Also, not sure if this would help in determining the cause, but I did update my driver to the most current version and the GW2 launcher informed me that there was a hardware issue.
Once I reverted back to the original driver that was installed on the computer the prompt went back to normal.
306.23 is what you need
ignore the message of the launcher
and make sure to check “clean install”
