My specs :
Intel Core i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07 GHz 3.06 GHz
3.24 GB of RAM
Windows XP Service Pack 3 (32-bit)
Old Graphic cards : Nvidia GT 520
Upgraded to new card at GW2 launch : AMD Radeon HD 7750
Driver Version: 12.8
GW2 Graphic setting : Auto Detect
After the upgraded to this card, I am having an issue that I never got with GT 520. Terrain disappears whenever I turn my camera. This makes jumping puzzles almost impossible to solo and I frequently stand in the air or bump into invisible walls.
Last I heard this, is related to Umbra Occlusion Culling desync with GW2 camera. However I asked other players with ATI cards and they do not seem to have the issue.

There’s also a target command switch that you can use to disable occlusion. Struggling to find it at the moment but maybe someone else knows it off the top of their head.

Same GFX card, same OS, same issue, only difference 12.6 driver and that CAP is installed too.
And what the heck is a target command switch??

It’s an “argument” that you put in the shortcut of your GW2 icon.

try adding -dx9single to your shortcut target command line.

Nope no change. Should I change any setting in Catalyst?

When you change vids did you perform a clean install? Last time I know the command line fixed the error.

I live in India. Honestly I would have done this if I could. GW2 met minimum system requirements before I upgraded and I didn’t have any problems except mild FPS issues in WvW. I upgraded just so this game would look better. But now I get this issue.
I think its a setting issue since most ATI users do not have it.

I checked and followed an online guide to remove all Nvidia drivers and folders. The Catalyst installer did not give me a clean install option as I recall.

How being in India is an obstacle to update your windows? If you are concerned about its cost there are always other ways to obtain them if you know what i mean yeh its not the most ethic way to get it but they lack it in the first place. Besides your pc would handle the game with win7 just fine its the game itself causing you the fps problems and it will be fixed soon I hope.

I play from a cafe and the owner doesn’t want to do it sadly
Anyone have same specs as me and NOT have this issue? What settings do you use?

I have the same problem on AMD Radeon HD 7770 (XP SP3, drivers 12.8), clean install without CCC.

Ah, a command line switch. Nah, using the Dx9single is unacceptable anyway for performance reasons.
And as long people keep making games for DX9, like every single one that is ported from the XBox(oh and GW2 BTW), there is no reason to donate even more money to Micro$oft.
Just for the privilege of a new mouse cursor, desktop skin and a broken native sound-hardware acceleration? Well, it´s your money.
I tried playing around a bit with the texture filter setting in Catalyst, and even the LOD settings in the game, but it´s still the same.
The Vista between the Snow Leopard and Raven Lodges is a prime example for this error. The front of the mountain were the jumping ledges are keeps disappearing.

So I guess us lowly WinXP users have to just learn to live with this?
You know ArenaNet, the AMD driver guys do have phones. And judging from what I hear, they´re actually waiting for a call.

Am sure its not something as simple as turning a switch, and even if it is, they might have to deal more pressing matters first.
I understand you and if you see some of the dev posts, you will find that they do read our threads.
I guess we just have to give it time.

It’s not your hardware or WinXP. See:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Collection-of-graphics-glitches
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/strange-lines-on-floors
It’s either a driver issue or game-related issue pertaining to certain ATI hardware. There have been community manager responses about it in at least one of those threads.
Yes, I necrobump’d this because this issue is still relevant and has not been fixed!

Hurray!
Looks like the new WinXP only 12.10 beta drivers seemed to have fixed this.
At least as far as I was able to quickly check. Mainly the one vista in Hoelbrak and various other spots in the Black Citadel.
Also the somewhat hidden vista in the south-west of LA. Was mainly a guessing instead of a jumping puzzle.
Will check around tomorrow on the Diessa Plateau where this error was extremely rampant too.
Maybe I can finally start trying all those jumping puzzles without fear of walking around on thin air.
Sadly they didn´t fix my abysmal FPS due to the underclocking of my PhenomII 965, but still.
Better than nothing.

I can confirm that 12.10 beta driver solves the problem for XP/77xx. Before installation Solid Ocean Fractal was completely unplayable (its hard to jump on invisible structures), now everything works as expected.

Didn’t work for me, I’m using Radeon 7750 with Windows XP. But thanks anyway, I’ll keep an eye out for new driver versions. Cheers!
