Radeon HD 7950 performance
Hey i have the same issue i have lower specs but it worked fine untill two weeks ago i get massive lags fps drops armor blur etc.
1st I dought that 2 core LT will get 50FPS in lions arch.
2nd never compair other games thats just kittened.
3rd make sure the video card is actually running @ x16 speed.
4th are you cranking up the shadows, reflections, and SS that kill the CPU?
Okay stop making excuses for Arenanet on why this game lags/and fps drops. this is none other than unoptimization, no direct x 10/11 support and the game is coded badly it is not your computer man.
It is not the card, is either ur CPU or some hardware/software malfunction, i have a 7950 and i have 0 issues, notice GW2 will push your CPU much harder than bioshock or Tomb Raider. Everything performance related in GW2 is 90% of the times CPU related and 10% of some driver or the GPU itself acting up. So yeah monitor the CPU/GPU loads, temsp, and clock speeds while playying on windowed mode in order to isolate the problem.

1. While I appreciate your opinion, that’s not really relevant to the discussion. And while I could post benchmarks, right now my laptop is running Linux and I don’t really feel like reinstalling Windows just to prove someone on the internet wrong.
2. Actually, comparing other games is kind of the whole point. If games which are more graphically intense run better, then wouldn’t that mean there’s a problem with the game that’s running much worse?
3. …yes. It is on 16×.
4. The settings on “lowest” mean that everything is on low, or none. So if I’m getting 25fps on lowest, then yes, that would mean shadows and reflections are off.

CPU seems to be averaging around 80% while gw2 runs. Although strangely, on auto-detected settings (which for some reason is some combination of medium-low settings) the game seems to be getting high 30s to low 40s while in Lion’s Arch now. That’s better.. but it’s certainly not the solid 60fps+ with every option on high that I would expect I should be able to get with a brand new $1500 system. Even Crysis 3 only recommends an i3 3ghz, or a 3.4ghz for high performance. Surely people can’t be expected to buy an i7 to get a solid framerate for GW2.
U may have something running on the backgruond or overheating CPU, 80% load is too much considering the low frame rate, u should check on that, something is cripling ur system that is for sure, it is not the card itself i guarantee that, the CPU is very solid aswell, so there must be something slowing it down. U should probably check the temps, open the case check everything is properlly pulgged into the mobo, sometimes a half plugged in memory stick or the video card itself can give u weir performance problems, also dust is a biatch, make sure everything is clean inside the case u should clean it up once per month to keep it running smooth and cool.
One thing is for sure, there is a problem with ur system, just have to diagnose and fix it, monitoring the system while playing is the best way to do that, i’ll recomend HWinfo64 for that.
60+ average fps in Lions Arch is like a wet dream fow that cpu… At 16x if your fps doesnt go up its generally cpu.. go do pve with max settings attend highly populated events even wvw then compare the fps… lions arch isn’t where you are supposed to be measuring your rigs true performance

U are so wrong LA is the perfect place to measure system performance, it is very demanding, all the time u get about the same frames 24/7. Evnts are random, WvW is random (not the same 15 ppl than 150, not the same 100 than 120, it is just random u can’t control it, LA u can.), there is no way u can measure ur performance on those places because u will never be able to repeat the benchmarks with the same amount of ppl, spells on the screen, etc.

Thank you. Turns out – it was the cpu. I used that program and saw my cpu temperatures were flat out ridiculous high. I hadn’t thought to check them recently because they were fine when I checked them right after I put the computer together last week. I think what must have happened is the CPU heatsink/fan wasn’t secured down hard enough and I probably moved it when I installed the SSD. I just took it apart about 15 minutes ago, hauled up on the fan, and one corner of it lifted. So yeah. Let’s just say I’m surprised I still have a cpu.. it was hot enough that one of the cores was throttling itself. But now I’m getting an average core temp of 45c with gw2 going (this is just with a stock Intel fan that came with the cpu for now), and I’m seeing fps of 40-50 in Lion’s Arch with absolutely every option turned on full. And since LA is one of the more demanding zones in the game, I should easily get 60+ in actual gameplay.

Sorry but have you actually done a LA run through test? Its so Fing jumpy one sec its 100 one sec its 30 how on earth you could rely on that badly optimized area’s result? Crowd is crowd you dont need to have exact same amount of people to measure your fps in zergs because it drops to a certain point when there is enough people to call it a zerg..

the problem is that we do not have that many games on the market to compare guild wars 2. Crysis which is arguable the best graphics cannot stimulate the edge case in guild wars 2
Bioshock and Tomb Raiders are bad examples because they are games that make you feel clusterphobic. Yep, these games restrict player’s movement so much that they will never have the same issues as guild wars 2
Only two game that is currently out that we can compare it to
Wow – has the proper case where people is group into a zerg but graphics stinks
Planetside2 – FPS will never hit the edge case where there is over 50+ players within a small area but have enough players on the feild.
The game I look forwards to see is Elder Scrolls online. I wonder how they solve the problem when there are too many thing going on the screen.
