What was the BSOD code associated with that BSOD you had? Perhaps that can point us in the right direction. Are you overclocking any part?

Not sure what OS, CPU or graphics card you’re using so here goes. I’m assuming you’re using Windows, and you’re capable of over/underclocking your graphics card through software.
I jumped back in during Flame and Frost, and I also had BSOD until recently. I checked the event viewer in Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Event Viewer, and it was showing Event 41 – Kernel Power in system errors at the exact times guild wars 2 restarted. Brand new 800w power supply, and not happening in any other games. No overheating, tried various drivers, still random BSOD. Only thing I changed in that time was my graphics card from an Nvidia 4xx series to a Radeon HD 7800 series, so I figured it must be something to do with that.
I tried two things: AMD Overdrive (if you’ve got an AMD Graphics card) and underclocked the graphics card by 1mhz on the clock and RAM, and disabled the sound card built in to the graphics card through Device Manager (never used it). From this I have had absolutely no black screens after playing for 40 hours, even through all game types.
Good luck, and remember to check the event viewer whenever you get any restarts, it can give you a clue as to why the system is restarting.

Please upload the .dmp file from the BSODs. located at:
%systemroot%\Minidump
which in most cases is C:\windows\Minidump.

Could disabling the second card fix issues involving screen going black but still hearing sound? No BSOD or nothin’, just graphics driver crashing (Radeon 7770, up to date on drivers and application profiles)
Well I can’t give you any info on the BSOD because I had no time to write down the error that was on the screen and also because I had already checked my minidumps folder and there was only one .dmp file which way from the 11th of may. I also ran WhoCashed and it came up with the same results, only a few crashes on the 11th. Which I think were before I had fixed the game with the full clean Nvidia driver update. WhoCrashed also told me that the saving/creation of .dmp files was enabled.
My GPU is Nvidia Geforce GTX 550Ti. I’ve also had a think on what could be causing the supposed randomness and i think it may have something to do with conflicting programs. I know that i have played many hours without problems while having youtube on and wiki on in the background, but in these cases I would’ve started Firefox or iTunes AFTER i had started gw2.
Could it be that having another program running BEFORE i start gw2 that it could cause the problem?
EDIT: I am also not aware of any overclocking on my PC, and i think that shop made PCs are generally not overclocked, however i will check it out.

Please upload the dump file then, you don’t need to write anything down, all the info is in the file. Also, how old is the computer? Is it still under warranty?

From past experience, issues like this are 80% hardware starting to fail, 20% video drivers. Video drivers are easy to update and rollback, so start there. Try a rollback and see if an update has snuck past you and is causing issues. After that, go get the latest video drivers (or search and find which ones other players with your video card suggest for GW2) and install them (do a CLEAN install if possible).
If ti’s a hardware failure, the likely culprits are:
Bad or going-bad memory
Bad or going bad power supply
Overheating video card
Only way to eliminate the first 2 is try new hardware (expensive to try), but you can usually find software to monitor your video card temp so you might want to go there first.
Hope this helps.

The dump file is old, there is no dump file for the current problem. Read my post. Also I doubt i need to get a computer fix because this is something that only happens during gw2 but for the record it’s around 2 years old and it might still be in warranty but TBH i don’t think I’m going to go through the hassle. The service is crap in my country.
But yeah, a work around for me seems that it that it never crashes if it’s the first thing i start up. After a few other programs have been opened and I’ve done other things after playing gw2 and i then start gw2 back up it only takes around 30min-1hr for a restart to occur.
It’s strange behavior like this ^^ that make me doubt it’s hardware.
