So I started playing with headstart, quit a month later, and just came back a couple days ago.

I’ve discovered upon coming back I have serious issues with really, really weird “lag spikes” that cause everything except movement to become unresponsive, and show people characteristically running in place. I use quotations because they aren’t actually “lag spikes,” nothing happens to my ping or my fps. They last anywhere from a second or so to 20 seconds, with a disconnect sure to follow the long ones.

Is anyone else having this kind of problem? I don’t THINK it’s on my side, considering I can play LoL, WoW, and Rift all with literally 0 issues whatsoever.

Update since I now can’t play the game, it has progressively gotten worse over the course of the day (actually the past hour). Guaranteed at least once every minute I will freeze up for at least 5-10 seconds.

This happens much more often in sPvP.

I am currently playing LoL with absolutely 0 lag-related issues.

you are not only one with this problem. Lots of people say it started with Wintersday.
Sadly Anet did not gave us explaining jet.

Starting today, I have been getting serious lag spikes in sPvP specifically on the Legacy of the Foefire map. I was doing a free tourney and also did hot joins. This problem only seems to happen on this map. My fps monitor is showing high frames and my internet connection is unstressed at the moment. No problems on any other map.

Freezing in place while characters run in straight lines. Sometimes for 5 seconds at a time.

This is happening to me too while doing PVE. I’ve been fine up until a few days ago. I thought it didn’t start until a couple days after Wintersday had begun, but I’m not certain. But, in any case, GW2 is almost unplayable at times with these “lag spikes”. Exact same symptoms as Phuriocity.

Hey I also have this issue combined with some BSOD and card resets. It seems graphics went really bad since winters day.

Sorry to bring this thread out of a coma, but perhaps it has to do with the recent 310 graphics driver update from Nvidia? I believe this update happened near when wintersday started. Maybe it’s this and not gw2, after all?
