Hey everybody thank you for clicking on this thread, it is appreciated.

I have an i7-2600K overclocked to 4.3Ghz with a GTX 750 that is also fully clocked. I also have an HDD and 8GB of RAM, yet I lag tremendiously in big WvW fights, f.g 40v40, 20v50, 25v40 et.c. Big numbers.

Vsync is off and my FPS caps up to 250 when standing still, all my settings are set to low, no shadows and render sampling is set to subsample. (I sometimes set it to native because it helps vs bigger blobs, I don’t know why?) Anyhow, my friend almost has the exact same rigg as I have above:

• i7-2600K@4.3Ghz
• GTX 570 (it’s like 2 years old)
• SSD
• 8 GB of RAM

And he has no GW2 FPS issues whatsoever, it is perfect even in blobfights. Not only that but he can stream while playing the game and blobbing, and the quality of the stream is great@720p. Also he does not have the settings set to as low as I have his settings are set to medium+

Stream is live right now: http://www.twitch.tv/aghars
If not just look at some vids and quality of them and how flawless it is.

Could somebody please help me understand this? I am clueless and I have considered buying a new GPU because I believe this is the problem, I am not sure however.

What can I do to fix this? What is going on? Why is my computer this incapable despite having a rigg almost similar to my friend’s?

GTX750 is inferior to the GTX570. And your GTX750 is not even a Ti model.

If you want better performance youll probably need to upgrade your video card.

Desktop: 4790k@4.6ghz-1.25v, AMD 295×2, 32GB 1866CL10 RAM, 850Evo 500GB SSD
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD

GTX 750 and cards alike aside. I’ve played on a GTX650 that runs perfectly fine in Guild Wars 2 on 1080p with an i5 setup(Medium/High Graphics). A GTX 750 can’t really compare to a 570 though. GTX 550/650/750 are all meant to be mid level/low end video cards. While 570/670/770 are supposed to be right under the performance of a GTX 480/580/680/780. So you won’t have the same GPU performance as he does.

However, graphics cards most likely aren’t the issue here.

So here is a question.

Were you having perfectly fine FPS before the Feature pack patch? If so, you most likely fall into the problem that a lot of us are having right now. The latest patch is, which was supposed to fix and improve game performance and optimization, actually did quite the oposite for a lot of players.

Here is a reddit thread where a lot of us have been discussing the issues.

A lot of us who used to get 100+ fps (60 constant if vsynced) now get 40-50fps and stuttering issues. Check out the thread, see if it matches any issues you’ve been having.

No, no, no, the FPS issue has always been there and I’ve strongly considered the GPU being at fault here, thank you for clarifying it for me once more, thank you so much. Also how come all the X60-X80 GPUs in the GTX series are so much better than the X50 ones?

Also, the seek time of an HDD vs SSD is also relevant in WvWvW due to how individual each player layouts his/her weapons and armor.

A 10ms delay for a sword model/texture or a headpiece can really slow down the FPS (sure, your system reserves unused RAM to cache sectors, but if you “see” some gear for the first time, you’ll notice slowdown. And that each restart).

And yes, the GTX570 has more shaders, but heed this warning: The GTX 500 series is intentionally undervolted to lower it’s power consumption at the cost of hardware instability and bluescreens

Because the higher end chips have more silicon transistors. 570 had 3 billion while the 750 has 1.8 billion. With twice the texture mapping units, render outputs and memory bandwidth. In terms of (stock) performance its about 1.5-2x faster than a 750. (For comparison, a current gen 770 has 3.5 billion transistors and a 780ti has 7.1 billion.)

While new more efficient architecture and higher clock speeds can make up some of the difference in performance, the “high end” 570 isn’t quite old enough yet to be outdone by a low end card.
