Q:
I play Guild Wars 2 for about 3 months by now, always on high settings (except for the shadows) and never had any kind of problem with my FPS (specs below). After about 2 weeks without playing, I logged in, patched the game as asked and, surprise, I was doing 8fps at Lion’s Arch and 10fps at Eternal Battleground, obviously unplayable.
Just for sake of curiosity, I went ahead and changed the settings to the lowest, without much success. (17fps @ Lion’s Arch)
My questions are:
*What did you change recently?
*Why isn’t it in the patch notes?
*How can I fix it?
Specs:
ASUS M5A97 PRO (Yes, everything is on the right slots)
AMD FX-6100 @ 3.30 GHz (I know it was a bad buy and it’s far from optimal, but it worked.)
NVidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Drivers checked.)
2×2GB DDR3 @ 1333MHz
Windows 7 x64
It’s also not temperature, already checked.
The last patch actually helped my FPS a bit, especially in the bandit caves of queens dale. o.o I even have a worse processor than you do =/

The same with me … No idea why FPS suddenly dropped from ~35 to 9 , the only change was the patch . Totally unplayable.
i5-2.5gb i agree , i have around 14 fps unplayable …
I use eyefinity and i can run forward for a short while then my screen goes black with a grey bar at the top and tool bar at the bottom and nothing works, do Ctrl Alt Del and have to log out to gain controll, just b4 logout the game disappears and everything works fine on desktop then it goes to loggin out, log back in and everything is run 100% run 3D benchmark run other games, all good. Log back into GW2 and same thing again even using just 1 screen. Drivers and updates good. FPS total crap. Please fix the game.
Ok checked active display adapters and thought it was them, keep getting the sound when you input a device while playing the game then the black screen and game crash. Finally pulled my USB3 HD out and my USB3 crashed, removed USB3 in device manager ( yellow tri-angle) and re-installed newest drivers from Gigabyte x58 drivers. All good now.
I have the same problem. Ran the game fine on highest settings except the Render Sample at a constant 30-35 fps, but since I came back after christmas holiday the game now runs at 5-10 fps while idling on lowest settings. For me these problems started with the culling patch, it turned wvw into this, though the rest of the game was unaffected, but now it’s everywhere and the game is unplayable.
Thats kind of Wierd.
Cause as far as i know FX 6100 is really bad bulldozer series which are totaly even worse then Phenom x4/x6.
If I were You ( as You claimed You did not play gw2 for 2 weeks ) I’d check everything I’ve done on PC that could affect the FPS instead of stright forward blaiming patches and company itself.
nothing rly wrong with fx6100 in this game, works flawlessly.

I didn’t play because I wasn’t even home… Spent hollydays with parents and all that bullkitten heh
And aparently i’m not the only one with the problem.
Oh, and I bought the processor already thinking about upgrading, because of the AM3+ socket
Same problem here. Update today, and even with the lowest settings, my fps dun reach more than 15fps.
Heres my rig:
CPU: 2500k
GPU: ATI 5770
Mem: 8GB
Post your rigs to see waht they have in commom.
Same problem here since the January 10th patch. Game used to run on highest resolution on almost best appearance settings at 30 fps. Now I can barely squeeze 7 fps unless I drop both the resolution to something much smaller, and use best performance settings.
What changed in the last patch?? I can’t fathom why the game has gone from running smoothly to practically unplayable.
Computer: new retina MacBook Pro running Win 7 on BootCamp
2.6GHz quad-core Intel i7
8GB 1600MHz memory
GeForce GT 650M
Facing the same issue here
Core i5 2500k running stock
8gb Ram
GPU – ATi 6850
please fix this!!!
Came back from vacation to find this out, 5 FPS up from 60+ in LA with max settings.

Updated my Nvidia to the latest one and its fixed for now… we will see if it goes back down later.
Same problem here. logged after like a month and fps dropped to 5-10 fps max. unplayable
Here’s a stupid question…are there more traffic (players) in the area now vs. before? More population around and active, possible lower fps…
Running with an AMD Phenom II X6 1045t and XFX Radeon HD 6870 1GB at lowest settings and still only getting 10-25 FPS tops while standing in LA.
Already reported that in two other threads. Getting same FPS rate at both auto-detect and high settings. Around ~20 from ~30-40 pre-patch. It’s really awful.
i5-760 2.80 GHz
8 Gb RAM
Geforce GTS 450 1 Gb
Edit: Deleting the local dat file does improve performance for some time but afterwards fps drops again.
