Q:
Stuck at 0% patching
A:
I’ve been doing the shut client down, start it again… and slowly got it to 2 files left/50%. On one of the occasions I went to shut down the client I ticked “Auto-Play”, started the client up again, auto-play was still ticked and lo and behold it went from 50% to 100% in a few seconds and now I’m finally online playing.
weird.
I’ve had the same issue but all day. I tried to reinstall thinking, surely that’ll fix it and 4 hours later, stuck on 99% as it wont download the last 14 files, so I know your pain. I sent a ticket and I’m still waiting for a reply, I’ll keep you posted.
Same problem here too.. Ive been browsing the threads looking for anyone elses success!
I keep opening and closing it to hopefully download the last 6.. I managed to get it to 6 left..
Same problem here, Downloaded 24 mb then 0 speed.
Where are you from? Maybe its a dns problem?
Australia here, it’s my suspicions as well.
HHmm, im from south america. C’mmon staff whats going on?
Finally got on after over an hour of restarting the patcher and downloading one file at a time…
I’m gonna post this here and hopefully it helps u guys like it did just for me:
Ok guys I do NOT recommend doing a redirect in your hosts file or using software.
THE BEST FIX IS WHAT ANET HAS RECOMMENDED: CHANGE YOUR DNS SETTINGS
Why? Because using a better DNS is actually better for your internet connection in general (could actually speed up your connection), and there’s no need to ever switch back.
I have found that Google’s DNS servers did not work for me, so I used Level3’s DNS servers, they work flawless.
Here’s how (for Windows 7 users):
- Go the Control Panel.
- Click “Network and Internet”, then “Network and Sharing Center”, and click “Change adapter settings”.
- To change the settings for an Ethernet cable connection, right-click “Local Area Connection”, and click “Properties”.
To change the settings for a wireless adapter connection, right-click “Wireless Network Connection”, and click “Properties”.- If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
- Select the “Networking” tab. Under “This connection uses the following items”, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and then click “Properties”.
- Click “Advanced” and select the DNS tab. If there are any DNS server IP addresses listed there, write them down for future reference, and remove them from this window.
- Click OK.
- Select Use the following DNS server addresses. If there are any IP addresses listed in the Preferred DNS server or Alternate DNS server, write them down for future reference.
- Replace those addresses with the IP addresses of the Level3 DNS servers:
- Primary DNS Server: 209.244.0.3
- Secondary DNS Server: 209.244.0.4
The following steps may vary a little depending on your router model, I’m using the one from Verizon:
- Next login to your router by putting “192.168.1.1” (without the quotes) in your web address bar of your browser.
- Your user name is “admin” and the password is “password” or “password1” by default. NOTE: If they don’t work, go to your router and press in the reset button (tiny hole on back) for 15 seconds and release. Login to your router again after waiting 20 seconds, and now you should be able to set your own password.
- Once logged in, go to “My Network” at the top.
- Select “Network Connections” on the left side.
- You will see two listings called “Broadband Connection”, one is Ethernet, one is coax. Click on whichever one is connected.
- At the bottom, click on “Settings”
- Where it says “DNS Server”, change it to “Use the following DNS Server Addresses” and change the Primary DNS Server to 209.244.0.3 and the secondary to 209.244.0.4.
- Hit “apply”, then hit “apply” again.
If all goes well, you should now be able to start up GW2 like normal.
You may have to reboot your router and/or your PC for everything to reset itself. My wireless USB adapter went to “disabled” status and i had to unplug it and plug it back in but once I did, everything was back to full speed.
I just did the computer end of these changes and didn’t touch my router. Problem solved and can now access the game again
The same story for me the update stucks at 0%.
Tried the above solution with DNS didn’t help (says “Network Adress is invalid”)
Also my frind’s game is stuck all the day.
Whom we need to contact ?
after changing dns settings, open a command window (cmd.exe) and flush the dns cache with command:
ipconfig /flushdns
As mentioned above, getting “Network Adress is invalid" when tring to put:
Primary DNS Server: 209.244.0.3
Secondary DNS Server: 209.244.0.4
As mentioned above, getting “Network Adress is invalid" when tring to put:
Primary DNS Server: 209.244.0.3
Secondary DNS Server: 209.244.0.4
Try using OpenDNS instead:
Primary: 208.67.222.222
Seconary: 208.67.220.220
same here.
two accounts, different computers (one PC and one Mac). we tried to plat but it get’s stuck.
I am having the same problem, it seems to download between 19 and 27mb at a time, stop completely and I have to restart the client to get it running again, have done this at least 50 times but don’t seem to get past 9 files left to download.
It’s been like this since yesterday, before I didn’t have any issues.
Same issue, been trying for last 24 hours…no success. Submitted a ticket yesterday but no response, so just submitted another one. This site is not user friendly, I can’t see my ticket or it’s progress in the system. Coming up for a long weekend here and I’ll be stuffed if I can get a few hours of gaming in.
I’ve tried all the above DNS Servers too and all 4 are invalid !

Happening to me too. Tried all of the recommended troubleshooting methods to no avail. Stuck at downloading 36-40mb of 9 Files Remaining.
Haven’t been able to play for 2 days :/
Try to connect different network…
For me it woked great (after 2 days of endless re-connections)
Arenanet please fix this…. im stuck at 1 file on the launcher.
Anet really should do something with that, i can’t log in three day now and it’s really Annoying because we miss a lot of the halloween patch ):

at 0 percentage..
please fix this..
I still can’t play It’s stuck at 1 file…
Hello…
I have the same problem…
I try all things and nothing works.
¿What happened? How i can send a report to support or something? a link?
I want to play!!!!
Tried changing the DNSs and nothing… still stuck with 6 files remaining since yesterday :S
Edit: After 3 days I gave up and went to a friend´s house who could download the updates and copy all… now I can log

Sounds like I have the same problem. Imploded about 2 – 3 days ago.
I’m currently at 4 files. You keep closing and re-opening the patcher and it sometimes pulls down another one….. that said, I suspect that there might be either a file or patcher issue with it not liking to go beyond about…. 23 – 28 meg is my guess.
I get good ‘download’ rates up until about the 20 – 23 meg mark ((I wonder if it’s reading from local cache somewhere they are that good), then it plummets rapidly to 0.
Anyone else seeing the stall consistently at that many downloaded MB?
¿What happened? How i can send a report to support or something? a link?
Up the top of the page, there’s an option for ‘Support’ right next to ‘forums’
From there, I’m guessing this is in the “Technical Support: Installation, Connectivity, and Performance»” category.
I’ve had the same problem for three days now, albeit after many tries I gradually worked down from 12 files left to just the one, but still didn’t get past that and remained stuck at 0%.
Just now, I managed to download it an instant by using a different network. I personally couldn’t reach any other WiFi networks nearby, so I used my phone as a hotspot and bam – it worked right away.
Hope that works for some of you!

I did exactly the same and it worked great !! (after 2 days of desparate struggles).
Ran into this 3 days ago still not able to login.
Things I’ve tried:
Uninstalling
flushing DNS.
Changing DNS severs for the internet (8,8,8,8 / 8,8,4,4)
Taking my comp to another friends house to try their internet
Trying the VNP download
Waste so much time already Anet is probably too busy with the tournament and events that they left this issue float around for such a long period.
This worked for some people, maybe worth to try:
“1. Close the Gw2.exe.
2. Install and run spotflux.
3. Executing Gw2.exe complete the remaining downloads.
4. Quit spotflux running.
5. Rerun the Gw2.exe to login. And games.
Download spotflux are on the Web.
I’ve solved the problem with this job.”
Not everyone knows how to solve it ANET Please solve it

This worked for me as well.
I’ve got the same issue. I’m not playing regularly so I just noticed it last night, still can’t get on this morning.
I hope they fix it, because this will stop me from coming back and playing regularly.
So far I’m surprised I was curious enough to come to the forums to see if others were having the same problem, I don’t think I’ll be trying too many times more.
been having issues with this today, this sort of thing can really kill my interest in an mmo (especially if I might miss out on event content as a result) so I hope it’s resolved very soon
I really don’t recommending messing around with network settings to get it to work, if your internet is otherwise working fine then why should you
Well what a farce Halloween was. Cant patch, cant get into the game, have been trying the patcher for the LAST 3 days and still got 18k files left to download. This is beyond a joke ANET and after reading all the above posts no one from ANET has bothered to respond to this problem…..You guys are a joke
In case this helps anyone:
I had this ~20mb then stopping problem for both my laptop and desktop at home (laptop using windows 7 the other an iMac running WinXP with bootcamp). My router is using the google dns server (all 7s as I recall) which I didn’t expect to be a problem – but I admit I never changed it.
Flushing DNS in a teminal with:> ipconfig /flushdns
didn’t fix the problem but like most of you I was getting ~20mb with each restart so I just kept restarting, eventually I got there and everything ran normally from there on (the light at the end of the tunnel for some of you perhaps?). Though during my many restarts (prob about 100 for the ~15 files) occasionally the client wouldn’t reconnect and start downloading, when this happened it just froze, but I found that if you flush the DNS (with the command above) then the next restart should connect and get the next ~20mb chunk.
Good luck
