Sudden Fps Drops

You actually get that kind of fps? Wow, that’s awesome! What settings do you play on?
As for the dips, have you been monitoring your temps? CPU in particular, but GPU as well.
You should test these while the system has been sitting idle for about 10 mins, then load gw2 and test it after running for 10 min (or while experiencing these fps spikes if they are accurately reproducible).
You may also want to verify that your drivers are up to date as well.
Haha, I was actually thinking the same thing. A 40v40 in WvW would destroy my CPU. I’m assuming he isn’t playing at 1080p though, I can see 720p producing those results.
As Kyllaa said, check your CPU and GPU temperatures with these (or other tools if you use other things):

For your graphics drivers, you can find those here:

A thorough cleaning never hurts!!!! But maybe look up a vid on your specific computer for good instructions.
Let us know your temps though to help you confirm that’s the issue.
Also do make sure your drivers are good

What about GPU? Also is this idle or while running the game for a bit? Where you experiencing a dip during the reading?
Odd that your graphics card wasn’t detected, is that why you couldn’t get the reading?

Duh, I feel a little stupid now. I wasn’t thinking when I made my previous post. Earlier in the day I was troubleshooting a similar problem with someone who has a discrete graphics module that would show up. The HD 3000 is on board with the CPU, so it won’t have its’ own reading.
If that CPU temperature is during gameplay, you sir have a well oiled machine. However, if that is idle/not doing anything intensive, then we might have a problem. That would be a little high for an idle temperature, in which case I would recommend tearing apart your laptop and give it a thorough cleaning. Sometimes youtube has detailed videos on how to disassemble a particular model of laptop, clean it and apply new/better thermal paste, and put it back together.
Here is a video of a total disassembly of a similar laptop model. Personally, the drill is a little excessive and all you should need is a screw driver.

or this one, it’s hard to say which is more similar:

Hi,
I have a laptop with these specs
intel core i5 2.5ghz dualcore
4 gb ram 1066 mhz dual channel
Intel Hd graphics 3000When Exploring i normally have 40-50 fps but it suddenly drops sometimes to 10 fps.
But when i’m in WvW in 40v40 Zerg fights i still have around 30 fps
Is there a solution for the fps drops when exploring
Had the same problem…Cleaning my OS, updating graphic card drivers restarting gw2 settings then cleaning the dust from my pc helped a lot.
