Temperature spike overnight?
it is most likely that the game is now able to be processed more by your graphics card. have you perhaps disabled vertical sync? usually this means your graphics card will aim to produce as many Frames Per Second that it can meaning if its only running at 80% and producing 75fps then it will work harder until it reaches 95+ %.

Vertical Sync is off, drivers updated, dust cleaned from case, etc. etc.
turn Vsync ON and see if this helps. as mentioned above when vsync is OFF your graphics card will keep working harder and harder to produce the maximum number of frames it can. when Vsync its on it stops working any harder once it achieves a frame rate that matches your monitors refresh rate.

Ah yes that dropped it down to around 65 degrees. Had that vsync opposite in my head. Thanks for that.
Erm ..i hate so say this but… Your graphcis card should be able to handle runing at 100% 24/7 if need be. If it is overheating ..which by the looks of those temps ..it is.. Then you need to check a few things.
Reduce the OC if its a custom OC
Case airflow
Dust
GPU cooler (is it working)
Contact between heatsink and gpu (maybe reseat it with new thermal paste)
Seen a few posts now where people have complained about GW2 overheating their graphics cards. Its not GW2’s fault …The GPU should be able to run at max load without overheating ..if it is ..its a hardware issue.
The argument that X and Y game runs the graphics card at max load and it doesnt overheat but GW2 does ..is irrelivant. 2 games can run a card at max and give different temps becouse 1 game may tax different components of the card more than the other. GW2 seems to tax alot more components on a graphics card than say .. BF3.. hence the temperature difference.
My Gigabyte 560ti SuperOC edition is factory OC by gigabyte to 950mhz core and 2290mhz(4580mhz effective) memory.
(stock being 822mhz core and 2004mhz(4008mhz effective) Memory.
And it runs at max load atleast 80% of the time in game ..and it reaches 75c max (using custom fan curve which peaks at 75% speed)
So graphics cards can handle GW2 whislt maxed out for long periods.

Like I said, it has been fine every day since beta. Only today I saw that spike to 90 degrees. No OC, case airflow is great, solid cable management, no dust, gpu cooler is working and seated fine, etc. Any other game I try I don’t spike that high, but turning on vsync helped, as I don’t need 150+ fps anyway.

I have had a similar problem on a lower perf GPU. Although mine started after the Oct 15 patch. No problems at all since headstart, then suddenly, PC shuts down after a while which I finally traced to overheating. Now I have to open the side of my PC and blow a portable fan inside just to run GW2 as before.
Sorry no solution, but wanted you to know I’m seeing temp spikes too.
80 – 90’c is within the manufacturers thermal recommendations (98’c max for GTX680) so the card is running fine although some people prefer to keep their cards running at lower temps.
My own personal preference for my GTX480 is a max temp 80’c my own tests have shown my card to reach a max temp of 74’c after 30mins of my GPU being at 95% or higher. The GTX480 also has a manufacturer max recommendation of 105’c so I feel pretty safe keeping my card below 80’c, I have overclocked my GPU with a custom firmware that allows faster speeds but keeps the temps under my target threshold.

I’ve ran GW2 with or without OC for over 20hrs (afk left the game on) max temp is 80’c on both cards.
That’s normal to me. =) But 90’C … it’s a bit high imo. What is your ambient room temp?
