Note that the TP is accessed in game via HTTP protocol taken from your current web browser settings…..Try to set another browser as your default or reset the default settings of your current browser.
You are getting to the TP just fine, but the display code is either being blocked in some way or not being properly translated.
What does the default page (GEM STORE) page look like if you click on the BL icon in the upper left (lion head)? Are the images and graphics loading ok?
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
the Gem Store is blank. Nothing shows up. I will try to do what you suggest. TQ
I have done what you suggested and the result is still the same. What else do I do? I cant use TP at all to buy anything nor sell … I’m desperate!
Same issue for me, and after did the samething as junebug
It was fine for me amd only these 2 days started having issue.. what i suspect is could it be after i used the email authentication function to launch the game…

Hi Junebug,
Please try resetting Internet Explorers settings since this is what the Trading Post and the launcher would use for it’s configuration. To do this:
1. Within Internet Explorer click on “Tools” and select “Internet Options.”
2. Click the “Security Tab”
3. Click through the 4 different zones, one by one. So first, click on “Internet” and select “Default Level.” Then click on “Local Internet” and click on “Default level” doing this for all four options listed.
4. Click the “Connections” tab.
5. Click on “Lan Settings.”
6. Check-mark “Automatically detect settings” and click “Ok.”
7. Click the “Advanced” tab at the end.
8. Click “Restore Advanced Settings” then click “Reset” under the heading “Reset Internet Explorer Settings.”
9. (Optional) – Check mark “Delete personal settings” if you do not have anything you want to save and would like a clean reset.
Once completed, please click “Ok” and try the launcher again.
I’ve also been having this issue for the past 3-4 days.
I tried the above steps and it didn’t help. Am still g getting blank trading posts and black lion trading company page.

Hi Ashley,
Thanks for the reply, however, the problem still persists. Are there any other solutions? I’ve reset all my settings. Even tried putting off my firewall, Internet to the lowest possible security level but no luck. Please help, some of us here (like me) are desperate to get into TP Its part of what makes GW2 great!
desperate bump. NO change to TP
June: me too connect from malaysia..
Hi there, I’m using a temp fix (i guess). Changed my DNS server in network settings to:
https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/
It works. Few of my friends from Malaysia tried it and it works. But I believe the problem is still there.
Anet/Ashley could you find out what is the problem please? This problem persists in Malaysia, so I’ve heard but I’ve called by ISP and nothing has changed, the 4 ports for GW2 is open and unrestricted.

You cant uninstall IE .. any try will only mess up your windows. If there is an uninstall
option this is maybe just downgrading to an older version.
And if setting manually another DNS-Server fixes the problem then the problem is
simply that the DNS-Server of your ISP is not working correctly. So contact your
ISP and tell them to fix their DNS Servers.

I did uninstall my IE. You wont be able to find it in my windows 7. Using chrome/firefox. I’ve already called my ISP about the servers. According to them nothing has been changed.

Okay so there’s a number of different things that can resolve Trading Post issues. We’re still looking into this issue, but in the meantime, please double-check to see if you’ve tried the following:
- Update video card drivers
- Make sure you have all DirectX updates
- Try disabling security software
- Update IE
- Delete gw2 cache folder
- Simply right-click the client and select “Run as Administrator”
Beyond this, please submit a ticket so we can better help you all out one on one.

I also wanted to add, that this could be a DNS issue as well. Please try the steps in the following link to override your current DNS settings and use Google’s Public DNS.
Using Google Public DNS
http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html
Once done, please follow the steps below to clear the DNS cache.
Press and hold the Windows key and press the R key. This should bring up the “Run” dialogue box.
In that box, type “cmd” without the quotes, and click the “OK” button. A DOS window should open.
Enter the following command below and press enter: ipconfig /flushdns
This should clear your DNS cache. You may need to perform this command a few times.
If this resolved the issue you will need to contact your ISP in order to have the issue resolved. Using a DNS that is not provided by your ISP may lead to slow connection issues.

I did uninstall my IE.
If that’s (actually) true – you have damaged your OS and certain things won’t function correctly.

One more lamer?
Windows allows to uninstall IE from the system without any problem.
Please stop misleading.
On my working PC I use Windows 7 with uninstalled IE about 3 years.
On my home PC I use Windows 7 with uninstalled IE about 6 month.
Everything is okay. I don’t need IE installed on my PC.
I use FireFox because of awesome NoScript plug-in.

Sure, you can go to the control panel and “uninstall” IE – but it will only revert back to a previous version. You cannot completely remove it without breaking your OS.
Yes, you can remove it in Features, but it still won’t completely remove it.

Evidently, my definition of “completely remove” and yours differ.
If you don’t believe me; boot with a WinPE disk (such as Hiren’s boot CD) and delete the Internet Explorer folders. Then (if your OS still boots), delete all references to Internet Explorer in the registry.
The above is MY definition of “completely remove”.
If you totally remove it then even your normal explorer wouldnt work anymore,
also Awesonium uses the Internet Explorer API and Settings so of course your
TP wouldn’t work. Also a ton of MMOs use IE for their launchers, these also all
wouldn’t work.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
If the problem is with IE, why did the problem with TP occur just 2 days ago when we dont have IE installed in our computers for years.
BACK TO THE TOPIC ON HAND.
Yes the issue is resolved by using google public DNS. But I have been using my ISP’s DNS since GW2 started. Problem only occurred 2 days ago and my ISP stated that there has not been any change to the DNS or blocked any ports that GW2 needs in order to function properly.
TO CLARIFY, I will double check with my ISP (Since this affects many Malaysian gamers, I have not heard from other countries) and will update here.
To note as well, since using Google Public DNS, even GW2 websites/forums looks better without broken links and pictures.
P.S: and Ashley, with all due respect, in regards to DNS I’ve already mentioned in a previous post that Google public DNS fixed the issue but its not a proper fix.
(edited by JuneBug.5972)
UPDATE
The Google public DNS will work as a fix. For those in Malaysia using UNIFI, ISP has advised not to set DNS to automatic or to use Google public DNS and they recommend the following DNS servers:
Preferred: 1.9.1.9
Alternate: 202.188.0.133
Hope this helps. It has been working so far for me.
I applied the dns u mentioned, stil not working for me..

So . you believe that ANet has done something with their patch that has made the
DNS of a specific Malaysian ISP don’t work correctly .. and ANet should fix that ?

- Update IE
Whaaaaat….why do you rely on garbage for the TP? :|
Would it really have been so hard to make a custom “barebones” browser for it or simply use just use HttpRequests and such in code to retrieve data and then do what you will with it, all the while still using a separate process as the current TP does.
Really though, I’m just curious as why you’re using IE for it?

They aren’t using IE ‘itself’ for the TP.
However – as I tried to get across to some people – several IE functions are part of the OS and they cannot be removed (by “standard” means, anyway). Although the IE browser itself may not function after disabling it; the OS depends on certain elements that are part of it. This is why it cannot be completely removed.
I applied the dns u mentioned, stil not working for me..
Maybe you should try Google DNS first and see if it works?

Sure. Lol need to know difference between system API used by Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer.

yup it works if google dns, but not the one for Unifi..
again like how u mentioned this is not suppose to be a permanent fix…
and Im not too sure what is the impact if keep using google dns..
I have done everything that has been suggested in this thread and still I cant get the TP to load for me…..
Any info on what I need to do to get this to work again

When you swap to unifi DNS, issue still there?
Ipea, seems that changing DNS for us works.
I’ve been having this problem for the last week or so (extra few days). I’ve also posted in the getting error thread; 7:11:3:191:101, which has a lot of threads concerning being held in wp’s and disconnecting to character screens, as well as tremendous lag. It has to be noted as well that Ive never had a problem with this game and I have been logging in since Beta.
The trading post for me will eventually load, but I wait 10 min or more. As well I can get one or two tabs to open fine while this is happening. while I wait for the others to load. Example. Im waitng now 5min so far for Gem store, but I can get; currency exchange to come up as well as Pick up, My Transactions.
So if I have a dns problem why can I get some to show and have problems with other parts of it? I do think the other problems with the error codes are a part of all this.
I will tell you as well that I have FibreOp Bell Aliant service and nothing is wrong with my service. No one else in the home playing this or other games are having these problems, So I don’t know the answer but Im not going to frustrate myself with it much longer.

I’ve been experiencing trade post/gem store issues since just before the weekend. Everything worked more or less fine before.
I use the latest version of Firefox with AddBlock Plus, NoScript and FlashBlock, also the latest versions.
Making another browser the default browser is not an option.
Disabling the security features is not an option.
Operating system: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bits
Network and ISP (xs4all.nl) are all 100% OK.

Almost same case as Broom,
Im having serious issues on my Black Lion Trading Company since a couple of days ago.
Before the screen sometimes had a delay but not so big. Now It takes forever to load the Tabs and many many times it just doesnt.
Im using Google Chrome as defalt Browser, even before GW2, and never had this kind of problem with the game.
Windows 8.1 64b
24Gb Ram
Nvidia 765M
Norton Antivirus

Update: for some reason the tradepost DOES work when I play using my VPN connection (same computer, same location, same software). I’ve tried several times with and without VPN, but invariably it takes 10+ minutes to load anything without the VPN, where with the VPN active it only takes 30 seconds or so.
I’d say this strongly suggests that this is not a client side software issue. Nothing is different when you use a VPN, except that a different IP route is taken to get data to and from whatever server is used.
After troubleshooting with anet over this, for some reason if I create a new Windows User Account with admin priveleges (my original has admin as well) I’m able to load the BLTC. This is as far as Anet will troubleshoot with me. I’ve cleared cache, disabled firewall, switched firewalls, unistalled and reinstalled the game. I’m at a loss. And how would another user account resolve this?

It means that something Windows related is damaged in your original user account (permissions, security settings, group policy, etc.). Often this is caused by malware (even if it has been removed) or some program has made changes to the system.
You may have some luck by running a check and repair of your system files:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/sfc-scannow.htm
Yeah, it came back fine. I’m also getting that Connection error 7:11:3:191:101 thing too. Some zones I have trouble getting into. This is just a recent thing though and no changes have been made to my Pkittenil I was trying to get the bltc to work.
edit: Just logged into other Windows user account, and it won’t the gem store or anything either.
(edited by ebrown.8193)
This Is really bothersome Anet, really I cant express my frustration enough here. Im trying to craft, I need the tp.
I haven’t been on for more than 4 days now, Im dealing with the error code; 7:11:3:191:101 and have been dealing with this BLTC as well.
It has to be related and Ashley I’ve been and have done the suggestions given.
I need it fixed or I cant play your game.
Seriously, the graphic opens the BLTC, but some tabs either open or don’t open in random ways. If I can get my window to sell my goods open, Then Im left with not being able to open the sell panel for an item. Most times when I do get a sell panel open and pick a price, click sell… it gets stuck in the selling graphic and doesn’t continue to the OK option.
It will show me the OK option, for the item im trying to sell, IF I choose to click on another item in my bags. that other item will come up but the previous sell item is in the panel to the right.
Its been this way since Ive been having the other error code problem and Ive been posting here and there since the last patch.
Tomorrow, with the new patch for Living Story coming out, if this stays like this, Its just going to be the worst play experience Ive ever had in this game.
It Just has to get fixed. I hope its understood that buying an mmo online game then having to try to fix internal and external routing , dns, ip’s etc. It cant be put on the customer!!! I can take responsibility to have the internet capabilities to run your game but honestly that’s as far as I should have to go.
I just want to share how I RESOLVED the problem of my trading post not working since everything mentioned above failed in my case.
The problem turned out to lie in COMODO (even though i added tons of things related to GW2 to exceptions), so I uninstalled it, got myself another antivirus and the trading post works as it should. Yay!
