1.5Mbps DL Speed .75 UL Speed Enough to Meet Requirement?

Guild Wars 2 keeps dropping me. Sometimes I can connect for an hour, other times I will disconnect every 2 minutes. TeamSpeak 3 doesn’t drop though. Just Guild Wars 2. I get error code 58:11:5:504:101 and error code 7.XX.XX…etc. as well. I get booted to a black screen when it crashes and then I have to manually shut GW2 down. I recently moved but my internet speed and router are the same as before as well as the same company. I can stream shows and watch movies etc.

I have tried opening ports on my router, resetting, etc. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be happening? Thanks in advance for any responses or help.

Hi Iason Evan – Have you tried eliminating any unnecessary background apps via Msconfig? This is where I would start as you’re getting both error code 58 and 7.

I can try it. Are there certain ones that are known to be culprits? I’m on a fresh Windows 7 install and mostly only running GW2 when playing. Sometimes I run Team Speak 3 and it does crash more often when that is up. Thanks for the response and I will see what I can do about background stuff.

Generally security software is the main culprit in this case. Aside from this, there are some other troubleshooting steps that have resolved these errors such as a DNS flush, Winsock reset, disabling proxies, running the client as Admin, etc.

I did all those. No dice. I installed GW1 and it runs fine. No disconnects. I figured if it was my network connection that I would get dropped from all games or at least arenanet games. As far as security software, like I was saying, it’s a fresh install so no anti virus etc. The basic thing that happens is my internet shorts out only in gw2 for like 4 seconds and the client drops me to a black screen and then i have to shut down gw2 manually and try again and then it drops me again.

Hm… I’d need to collect more info from you in order to further investigate. Unfortunately with these error codes, 7 in particular, there are a number of different causes and thus a number of different resolutions.

Would you mind posting a Game Advisor report to this thread so that I could take a look? If you’re not comfortable putting this information on the forums, I’d recommend creating a Technical Support ticket. The thread below should detail contacting support as well as creating a Game Advisor report:

I attached the file. Also be aware Ashley that I got an error code 14 today as well. I have also had my ISP send a tech out and he rerouted me and that still didnt work. Running out of options. Please save me!

EDIT: Heads up too, some friends of mine are suggesting my router is getting flooded. My internet light on my modem stops blinking for 3-5 seconds and only when on GW2. I also installed GW1 and Neverwinter to see how those games responded and I was able to play them fine with no disconnects. The problem is I don’t want to play those games! I want to play GW2! Thanks in advance for anything you can do to help me resolve this issue. I would hate to not be able to play my favorite game anymore.

1.5mbps seems really low for a download speed, is this closed to what your ISP said you were offered? Granted you won’t always get what they say, but under even 5mbps seems super slow for MMO play.
