Hello, so I bought a laptop in May 2012 for two reasons, to play GW2 and use Microsoft Office. The laptop I ended up buying is a Lenovo Ideapad (cant remember the model number) it has the following statistics.

Windows 7 64 bit
Intel i7-3610 QM CPU @ 2.30 GHz
8 GB RAM
GeForce GT 640M LE

First I am going to admit I know very little about computers… but I can follow instructions.

So to my problems

1. the graphics crashing issue- As explained in the sticky I have the problem where randomly but most times with in 20 minutes of launching gw2, the screen will flash to black, and sometimes it stays black for 30 seconds then goes back to gw2 other times it closes gw2 and the "send error report comes up and in the corner of my screen a bubble pops up staying my graphics thing has crashed and successfully recovered.
I have been having this problem since launch. I have followed the instructions on the sticky exactly and it has not helped. (making sure that the aliasing is set to application controlled)

2. I will be playing like normal then suddenly everything will freeze except for the mouse pointer which will freeze about 30 seconds later. And if I have my volume on then that will start freeze too so it makes this awful sound, and I cannot Ctrl/Alt/Delete to get out of it, actually I cant do anything to get out of it except unplug my computer or hold the power button to power it off. (which I know is bad for my PC and since I had to do it like 4 times an hour last night while I was trying to do Jumping Puzzles is pretty annoying) I do not believe this issue is caused by over heating as my computer is rarely ever hot and I usually play with a fan or other so that this is not an issue. This has also been an issue since launch.

On a side note I have that up until last night running my pc on energy balanced mode instead of performance does seem to reduce how often these issues occur but they still happen a lot. Some time like 3 times a day sometimes more than times an hour it seems really random.

Please some one tell me what to do, besides buying a new computer. There must be something I have tried yet.

My drivers are all up to date.

A complete OS freeze like that can be a couple of things.

1. Bad Memory
2. Overheating of your CPU/GPU
3. HDD physical Faults (Bad sectors)

I would start by verifying your temps on the laptop. Download CPU-Z, GPU-Z (Sensor tab), and Coretemp. this will tell you what each of the components sit at for Temps.

Ideal temps are about;

35-44c Idle – CPU
45-55c Idle – GPU

55-65c Full load – CPU
60-75C Full Load – GPU

If your Temps are with in ‘normal’ ratings, then you next should work on Memory testing. Download Memtest86+ and burn the ISO to a CD-R. Boot to the CD and let it run for a good 24-48hours.

You can download CrystalDiskInfo to check your HDD/SSD’s SMART tables for Errors/data. That will tell you if your HDD is aging or if it has problems (raw Data read/write errors, Sector Reallocation Errors, Cache Level Errors…ect).

that is where I would start, that way you get to know your laptop.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will look into those things.

Just thought I would add that I was just trying to play again and I was in maybe 10 mins and then I got the Blue Screen and my computer restarted its self. It seems to have recovered. I guess It is just my computer. Silly me thinking that if i spent enough money I could get a laptop that could play GW2 with out any problems.

Blue screen is a Kernel Dump. Next time it happens report what stop code is issued and what faulting module.
