Whats going on with GW2
fps issues seems to be coming from particle effects like fog and smoke (and pretty magic effects).
software crash (access violations) can be a incompatible dll hook from something installed (Kaspersky in older versions could crash games because of the virtualkeyboard). Can also be caused by failing hdd/ssd, or dodgy sata drivers
TDR and error 116’s are usually blamed on the driver, but more often then not a vendor overclocked graphics card is involved.
I feel bad because I see so much future potential for guild wars 2. and with all these issues I see the player base moving away. unfortunatly anet had to move in a somewhat timely manner, to get a head of the game. I see guild wars 2 in my future for at least the next 7 years. The basic stuff they put out now is nothing compared to what I imagine will be in soon enough time.
Since there are no monthly fees, people wont “really” leave GW2, they may come back after each new content or PvP update.
The main problem with “mostly consistant 60 fps” is that u obviously don’t play WvW, which was/is the “big” selling point for many GW2 players, but u need a abysmal beefed up PC to get even consistent 30 FPS in a large fight. Most of my friends did actually spend like 300-700$ and build/upgrade there PC’s only for GW2. So we talk about a pretty steep entry barrier, if u enjoy competitive WvW.
I tried to get 2 friends to play WvW with me and they got like 5 FPS in WvW, so they are back in PandaLand

Not everyone has problems fortunately.
I am not a big pvp guy, but I have played wvw with no noticable diffrence than what happens in pve. But I did re-build my system and spent around 3500 dollars on it, still there are isuues, some fps and some quad-sli issues, but I look at it as a long term investment. By that I mean 3 to 4 years. Usually every 2 to 3 years I build a new system, so it was about that time anyway.
Ah oki, 3500$ should work for WvW, obviously not everyone is committed to such a investment to play GW2 WvW, if they have no problems with other PC games. My friend can play WoW/LoL/WoT/BF3 just fine (med/low settings), so ofc he won’t upgrade for GW2 if he isn’t already sold.
The other problem is that even if he wants to upgrade, most other PC games are GPU bound, so while he may boost BF3 performance with a GPU upgrade, it wont do any good for GW2.
Its actually a little sad, we really tried to find a cheap way for him to upgrade for GW2 and the lowest “good” we could come with was around the 400$ mark. The problem is he compares GW2 to WoW/BF3 so ofc its hard to convince him to upgrade, if those games run “fine”.

I have to agree with him, in a way, gw2 should run fine like the other games and it will, it will just take some time.

I am sorry I ment to say you need to spend 4000 dollars to get it to run optimal
One thing I want to say, I was not blessed with guild wars 1 until 8 months after it came out. So I dont know what kiind of trouble they had at release. But I still remember the first day I played it, walking through a buetifull ascalon. The trees the water it looked and felt so great for a short time then the war happened and everything was dismal. But now in GW2 I can relive the buetifull landscapes and lush forests, as if 7 years ago was just yesterday:)
