Hello everyone i was wondering why i cannot run GW2 on full graphic settings with out low fps, lag .
My system requirements are:
AMD FX™-4100 Quad-Core Processor
8.2 GB Ram
3.6 GHz
AMD Radeon HD 6450

I can run the game on Medium/ Low graphic settings with around 20/30 fps But my cp should be able to run the game on full graphics. Unless the game is just really power hungry can anyone tell me what i should/need to upgrade to run games with a better performance on my pc.
If i should already be able to run the game with full settings could someone try to help me out?
Thanks,
Razor.

Run CCleaner or advanced system care if you want the full package
Your graphics card is not bad but its getting “older”
It should just run it (i think), i can not test, this pc is to new for that..

Yeah you have a low-end graphics card, it really depends on how much you want to spend on one.

See here for notes about it:

Read this to understand why your system can’t run at max settings.
http://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/tech/FPS-GPU-CPU-Performance-issues-FAQ

TL;DR – your gpu is a low budget card. I bought one for $15 after rebate for my HTPC, works great, but not for games made with in the past few years.

I can spend up to £100

The game seems to be quite heavily processor bound (compared to other games). So let’s google your processor to see if it’s any good:

http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1766/17/

“When it comes to performance we were shocked to see the AMD A8-3850 ‘Llano’ processor and the Socket FM1 platform performing better than the AMD FX-4100 ‘Bulldozer’ processor and the Socket AM3+ platform. We quickly found out that the FX-4100 was priced this low as it needed to be.”

A very cheap processor delivering good performance per money spent, but still not a lot of horsepower over all. I’d not expect it to be the best part of your PC if you expect a current title lauded for good graphics to run maxed out.

But of course, good graphics require a good GPU. Let’s look at yours. There was a good review posted above and what we can learn from it is, that it’s not just dirt cheap but (in contrast to your CPU) it also offers low performance per money spent. It’s probably one of the worst choices for a gamer who’s trying to spend as little as possible.

So, what to do with your £100? Swapping the CPU for something decent might require swapping the motherboard, I’m not an expert on AMD CPUs, though.

Swapping the graphics card is relatively easy and painless.

I’d try to get a good used GPU and swap the graphics card. The 5870 I just replaced with a GTX670 (which runs cooler and more silently) is three years old. A used one should be in your price-range. It’s well capable to run the game at max settings if the rest of the PC is up to it as well. Yours might not be, but you should be able to improve the visuals a lot.

Most of all – buy used. At that price point, don’t buy new stuff.

Edit: The ATI Radeon 5870 is in your price range:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1311&_nkw=radeon+5870&_sacat=0&_from=R40

It’s a good card, but there may be others out there that offer still more of a bang for the buck, so I’d start looking at old reviews and compare prices.

The FX4100 isn’t that good, and the graphics card isn’t either, the 7850 is a good buy right now and if you got the cash to spare ($120-130 which should be 100 pounds) the FX 6300 (Piledriver) is an improvement.

I personally wouldn’t even touch a 4100/4170/4200/4300, they’re worse than the APU’s. The A10 5800K rips past the FX4300 in many benchmarks.

£100 is roughly $160 last time i checked.

Unfortunatly AMD cpu’s are having a hard time with GW2, specialy if they are low clocked. Which for an AMD ..your is. However it should stil lprovide better FPS than what your getting.

As for your GPU, well thast about equivalent to a Nvidia 520GT ..which is deffinatly NOT a gaming gpu. its very low end.
My advice would be to look out for a Nvida 560ti ..they usualy cost around £140 ..but it depends on what make and how much of a factory OC you want. I do highly sugest you try spend that little bit more since £100 wont get you much unless you go second hand..which always carries risks.

Atm compatability is just down to the Motherboard CPU and RAm.

modern components use DDR3 RAM,
CPU’s have different LGA sockets so you have to check which one your getting and then look for the correct motherboard.

Some CPU’s are designed to run with duel channel RAM, tripple channel, or quad channel. What that means is you get 2 sticks fo RAM ..or 3 sticks ..or 4 sticks for optimum performance.

Graphcis Card wise ..there is no issues really . Get Nvidia or Ati (AMD) and plug it into the fastest PCI-e slot you have (x8 , x16, V2.0 or 3.0)

Then you need a powersupply which is theo nly other main compatability worry ..you wont wanna buy one that doesnt pump out enough power .. So a 650W is probably a good start.

The 7850 is a tad behind the nvidia 560ti .so it should be fine.

Normal i sugest getting a 560ti becouse they r good bang for buck .but the 7850 is probably cheaper and although its not as good as the 560ti ..its close.

7850 is faster than a 560ti, then thing about the 560 is there are 3 different 560’s there is the 560 then the 560ti and finaly the 560ti 448 eddition,

The 7850 is faster than the 560 and the 560 ti.

Your going to need a new power supply also I bet. Your adding 100 watts to the TDP and I dought you have a 6 pin PCI-E connector . The 560ti will add 140 watts to the TDP and if I remeber right takes 2 connectors.
A smaller upgrade to a 7750 would still be a big upgrade and not require a new PSU maby.

Think about how bad his runs with a 6450 video card
EDIT I feel for the people that bought a 680 for 25% price increase of the 670 to get 10% more performance. It seems the game does not like the intel GPU’s for some reason ( or the newer ones atleast and people talk about AMD drivers) I get 35/45 fps with mid settings in WVW with i5 2500k @4.4 16GB 2133 ram and a 6970 @ 950/1425
WVW is big time CPU bound.

This site has good comparisons on ‘overall’ performance on each card.

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

I would go with the 560ti imo. Though i’ve always stuck to Nvida so i guess im bias :P

EDIT: bassicaly anyhing above 3160 points on that site is good for GW2 on Max settings native sampling ..with FPS betwen 45 and 60 when the CPU can keep up.
Anything above 4200 points should be able to max GW2 out and ‘possibly’ super sampling and not drop below 60fps unless the CPU is bottlenecked (like WvWvW)

Then the 600 series are bugged. Because I get as low as 16 in big wvw zergs with gtx 680 and i5 2500k 4.2

Dacooli ..there are some ..you included it seems ..who are having some odd performance issues tbh. I remember trying to help out in one of ur posts and nothing we tried seemed to help. There is obviosly somthing causing your issue. But others have run the game fine with the 680 and the 2500k. The only possible thing i can think of off the top of my head is that your FPS difference in WvW vs mine could just be down to those 400mhz difference in CPU clock speed. “shrugs”

Anyway im just basing my advice of the ‘average’ performance. there will always be those times when thigns just go wrong.

Yeah didnt think about the PSU.

If your not sure what it is take the side of your case off and there will be a sticker on the side of th PSU telling you how many watts and how many amps it has, the ones that are the most important are the watts and amps ont he 12v rail.

Should think that the 560 and the 7850 should fit inside most cases with out any problems but might be worth measureing up first just incase.

You would be suprised at how many people just think I can upgrade and have a slim line case and a 300 Watt PSU. If that’s a store bought PC with a 30 Watt GPU ouch.
