It’s one of the ugliest lighting passes a game could possibly have. i always have my post processing turned off because of it. all the official screen shots posted in the blog’s short stories have that kitten white glowly vomit everywhere, makes the game look worse then it is without post processing.

if people like it, which i doubt, keep it on. but at LEAST turn post processing off when you screen shot for the short stories! my word. :S

Because Bloom is one of those graphic features you have on your game engine checklist like hard shadows or depth of field blurring. Surprised we don’t have “lens flair” when looking up at the day star.

No. Over the years I’ve grown to accept that developers and players expect both HDR and Bloom as lighting effects found in games.

Bloom ..its love or hate. And its particularly important the art style that is being used.

I still remember Rift bloom in one of the dungeons which had ,in effect, a whiteout blizzard part to it. With bloom on, atleast with my plasma TV, it almost burns out ur eyes when ur looking at it lol, total white, couldnt see jack kitten . Turn bloom off however, and it looked so much better, u could see the blizzard, and just about see 2 foot in front of u. Atleats that game had the option to JUST turn off bloom.

I cant say i have a problem with GW2’s bloom tbh, but then again, iv got more conserning issue with GW2 other than its use of visual fidelity options. That being , its catastrophic performance anywhere where there are groups of other players.

coming from a guy who has a sizable list of heaps far computer stats, i cant believe i accept the mist war performance with my barely 25 fps on this core i5 2.3 ghz, 1gb VRAM, 8 gb RAM laptop!

Im not sure i 100% understand what ur trying to say …but maybe iv just had 1 to many glasses of rum at this moment in time :P
Ether way i ‘think’ i get the jist of what ur saying.

When i say ‘catastrophic performance’ ..its all relative. With a rig like my own im used to ether super high FPS 100+ without vsync, or solid 60 24/7, and/or absolute max fidelity settings + downsampling with 50+ fps (with the exception of Crysis 3 which runs at 1080p max settings 4x AA with 45+ fps in campaign). So when i get low 20’s in a 100man+ WvWvW zergs, and those in EB, i consider that catastrophic

If you don’t like bloom, disable it. Personally, I run bloom on and an external graphics program to enhance and run multiple passes of bloom to really make it intense. It’s all about preference. So, again, if you don’t like it, turn it off.

Also, why did you post this "opinion piece’ in the Tech Support forum. You’re not asking for technical support. Post it in the GW2 Discussion subforum.

Moderator, please move this thread to where it belongs.

The tech support forum isnt really a tech support forum were Anet helps with peoples problems. This is more a tech discussion forum where users discuss and help each other out. I so no problem with it being here tbh.

Contrary to what you may believe, the Tech Support forum is where people who require support of a technical nature go for help from both Anet employees and players alike. Anet Tech Support employees do assist players with technical issues as is evident by actually looking at the threads that exist in the Technical Support forum. So your statement is false.

Also, “Support” is in the title of the forum name. If this topic is not searching for support, but rather to discuss a feature of the game, then it belongs in the Guild Wars 2 Discussion forum.
