Windows 8 problems
Please don’t ask for support on Windows 8 until the operating system is finalized.
If you where smart enough you should have running a dual boot. So just play it in windows 7. And like HCProfessionals said, the operating system isn’t done.
Windows 8 is in the RTM stage, so stop writing to play in Windows 7 or that Windows 8 is not “finalized”, it is. Simply the general consumer will be able to access it at the end of October, while MSDN/TechNet/Dreamspark subscribers already have it since the beginning of August (end of it for Dreamspark).
Windows 8 might be released to the manufacturer, but that doesn’t mean everyone else is completely ready for it – AMD, nVidia, etc. There are still going to be several bugs on release and it will be several months (just as with any OS) before Windows 8 will be ready. So no, it is just silly to ask for support for GW2 on an “unpolished” OS. There’s enough in the works for ArenaNet than to deal with this at the moment.

Agreed, also no OS is truly finalized ever till they are no longer used ;D if win7 was finalized, would we have needed the SP1 hmmm?
ANET, looks like you guys weild
your QA’s like a shiny armor.
Guys I think you should stop win 7 vs win 8 squabble. If the OP wants to use win 8 it’s his choice.
@OP
could you atleast attach your dxdiag or game advisor report? Is there a crash report for guild wars 2 as well? (Documents \ Guild Wars 2 Folder)

I’m also running under Win 8 and i do not have the first 2 problems.
I only have last one.
Dont know about ATI, but Nvidia has been ready for win 8 for a long time already.
@OP could we have a bit more info about your PC? stuff like what GPU, CPU, Motherboard, driver versions.
I fixed the random crashes by downclocking my GPU… I also had this problem and fix when i was still in Windows 7, on any version of the drivers.
I was running the game under Windows 8 RP for a long time, and didn’t have those issues. I don’t think it’s related.

What rubbish. Of course they are ready for it. Microsoft doesn’t just throw a new version of windows out with no prior heads up to the card manufacturers. NVidia etc have had Windows 8 for months and there are perfectly good drivers for it on their site. One could always argue that it is buggy of course, and hopefully that it will become less buggy with time, but from my experience of it so far, it is already less buggy than Vista is years after release.
And I am quite sure that ArenaNet has Windows 8 installed for testing purposes and has already done extensive testing. Pretty soon it will be the default operating system for newly bought machines, so it would be pretty stupid of them not to have tested it!

I have a very simple question – does GW2 officialy support Windows 8?
I understand it hasn’t been released yet but I plan to install their RTM version these days + official release is in a week.
However I don’t want to cause myself additional GW2 issues by using something like this, so I’d love some confirmation, official if at all possible, that GW2 in fact works on Win8 just as good as 7.
Works perfectly, I’m guessing they will officially support it once it’s coming out through mainstream channels.
Im using it on win 8, no problem at all…
Using win 8 since Consumer prev. Guild Wars 2 runs perfectly fine.

I’m running it without any problems on the official RTM (Nice to have a dreamspark account)
Guess they will officially support it when it comes out for consumers.
Works fine, in fact you may get a few more fps on win8 compared to win7 in most games.

Windows 8 was finalized last month and can be downloaded from their website. It’s just not out in retail form yet.

No matter how you spin it W8 is not yet supported by A-net.

I run windows 8, and the game runs better for me there than in windows 7 (I get an extra 2-4fps). I don’t think your problem is related to the OS.
Try running the game with the -repair option and see if that fixes the issue.

Yeah, well, in less than a month, it’s going to be, and the OS itself isn’t going to change before then, so there’s no sense in ignoring the issues until they’re actually “REAL” issues by your definition.
Also, the windows 8 supporting video and chipset drivers for all major manufacturers have been out of beta for a while now. The hardware is fully supported.
just updated from windows 7 to windows 8 and game runs better, although other older mmorpg i play are running pretty bad with windows 8 lol
Who merged a windows 8 problems thread with a thread that just asked if windows 8 would be officially supported ??
Now the thread looks totaly weird.
Sometimes i dont understand moderators.

To help you out of your dream, every major piece of software is gonna have bugs forever! Many thousands of them even. Luckily the majority of them won’t effect your usage.
I recently installed windows 8 profession 64-bit and noticed a few things:
-changing dye colour crashes the game
-zooming in/out map and mini map crashes the gameIn addition to those it also crashes at random times which i can’t identify the cause.
It’s likely crashes are caused by certain combinations of hardware/software. A friend of mine also has crashes at random times using win vista.
Runs perfectly on my win8 with nvidia gpu !
