after a little while of playing 10min – 2 hours I will get a black screen crash I can hear some sounds in the background and can move the mouse around but that’s it, I have to alt tab and close gw2 and reboot it. I have a radeon hd 7750, I think the problem might be overheating but im not sure cpu is going up to like 68c and gpu is going up to 60c, if it is overheating what can I do to fix this problem I play bf3, skyrim, gta4 etc.. without any issues but for some reason gw2 black screens randomly, things I have tried to do to fix the black screen issue are

enabling vsnc
turning on frame limiter
turning graphics settings down
putting refresh rate to 60hz
disabling antivirus
changing in game resoulution
changing anti aliasing in cata control center to use application settings
downloading the latest drivers
deleting the gw2 cache folder
updating to windows to service pack 1
tried deleting local.dat file

none of these fixes worked for me, I have also heard of another fix where you have to do something with your router/modem but im not sure how to try that fix, can someone please help me I really want to play gw2 with my friends but this is making it very hard to, can someone please help, and If this is an issue with the game arena net please fix this, also something I forgot to mention is that like 3-7 months ago( cant remember exactly) I used to play gw2 on this same computer,( no changes have been made to this pc) and I didn’t have this issue, and know all of a sudden when I want to start playing again im getting random black screens, someone please help.

You didn’t note if you tried to delete the local.dat file (my documents/guild wars 2).

Also, try restarting your modem/router.

I have the same issue, and i have tried everything you have. I went through support and tried a whole bunch of other things but none of them worked, and eventually they were convinced that my CPU was overheating, even though the programs they told me to use were exaggerating my readings (Like over 100 degrees celsius, lol). I too, was playing GW2 without black screens since launch on the same pc with no changes made to it. I’ve given up on it right now, it appears as though nothing works :/

Not sure if this is exactly the same issue, but I would get a black screen when loading the character select screen from the log-in screen. It would freeze up and the only way to close would be to hit the reset button on the PC. At first it would do it only once or twice in a while, but the other day it was every time I tried to load the game.

I made sure everything was up-to-date, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, etc etc.

What worked is what Kyllaa said ….. I deleted the local.dat file, which seemed to reset all my graphics, audio, etc. options. But, knock on wood, the game has worked for me since with no problems.

edit: older PC with a GTX460 card but all graphic settings on high, so I didn’t have to reduce any settings once the game started working.
