I downloaded a bunch of free to play MMOs and Rift and SWTOR installed fine. However, I cannot install this game! My entire PC freezes and I can’t get past 5%. It takes a good 5 minutes for my PC to “un-freeze” and I will be able to download the game OK for a minute or so before it locks up again and I have to wait another 5+ minutes.

I have an i7, 16GB RAM, GeForce GTX 780 Ti and have over 35 games installed on my PC (both offline and online games).

What is going on?

I have about 175GB left on my SSD.

I’ve run down a test, can someone help me ?

Actually, it is your system. The Windows OS does not allow software at the application level that type of control. Either a driver is bad or hardware is failing. I would first recommended uninstalling/reinstalling your graphics drivers.

This way you can catch the error code.

I did this and my computer still reboots and no error code is shown. Besides, like I said, when I try to install the game now, it stops at 65%. But what’s curious is that I can still play the game afterwards, like if the installation was succesful. But the same problem appears, it shuts down 5 minutes after I start playing.

I wonder why is it happening just now, I’ve played the game for over a year, ever since it came out, and out of nowhere it won’t work now

If no error code is appearing and its shutting down; it sounds like it is hitting a thermal limit and turning off to prevent failure.

I would recommend running http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html and watch the temps. Most computers will shut off somewhere in the 90-120C range.

Could also be a power draw issue; maybe a failing PSU. The game is very CPU intensive and maybe drawing more power than the PSU can give out.

Maybe you’re right, but I still cannot get over the fact that when I install the game, it stops at 65%, but I can still play the game afterwards… I just don’t get it, it’s everything but logical, and I’ve played hours before and my computer did not shut down.

As for the download issue, that does sound strange. I would recommend trying a “-repair” option on the game to see if it can fix it.
