combat sound
Delete the following file (its ok, the game regenerates it):
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Guild Wars 2\local.dat
Then start the game with the -repair option.

I have the same issue. I tried with the above but I can’t find the local.dat file.
edit: found it. It was in a whole different folder
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2
edit2::
I did all the above but the sound issue is still there. Please help.

What do you have set for your sound settings in game?

I have this similar issue. After playing a while half of the sound effects in game just stop playing. Skill sound effects and environmental sound effects seem to me mostly affected by this issue, music seems to be playing fine and I can also hear NPC speech. Relogging back to character selection and re-entering the game solves the issue temporarily.
To my knowledge this started with newest patch.

Everything looks good. Have you tried updating your sound drivers recently?

I have this same issue after the most recent patch. This is not a Client side issue and is something Anet needs to resolve. When and if they get around to it.

Nope, I just made a fresh install of GW2 today, but last time a week or so ago I played the game I didn’t have this issue. I have some integrated sound card and finding recent drivers for it is quite difficult.

Yep; that can be a pain. I am assuming this is a laptop; I would go to the manufacture’s website and see if they have any files listed for sound devices.

I’m having this same issue. I tried deleting the local.dat file and starting the game with -repair, but it just happened again.
What…?
After leveling up the ability and environmental sound effects were re-enabled automatically!
Nah I have a desktop PC but it was set up back at the store so I don’t know it’s exact specs, but still it has been working without any major issues though.

That is odd. Play for a bit and see if it happens again.

Hasn’t happened again for a while, but I stopped playing for tonight already. Will see tomorrow if it happens again.

I toyed with them for a bit but nothing worked. I have also updated the audio drivers but that didn’t work either.
It’s something within the game. It started with the tequatl patch and affected many people. We need some answers from Anet.
Same issue as well. It happens whenever I speak with a scout and exit however.
This is a known issue https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Sounds-dissapear-after-talking-to-scouts/first#post2863522 hopefully a hot fix for this will be implemented soon.
Not fixed after today’s mini patch.
Yeah, I replied in that thread. I’m still hoping for a fix soon. Either it’s not a high priority bug or it’s more complicated than the dev stated.
