can’t pvp or do world events with 10-25 FPS with everything on low except native rendering ..and that after all the useless driver updates and a fresh install
on a laptop with i7 2ghz, 8gb ram, nvidia gtx560m 2gb

Indeed. Im sorry to say but your laptop sucks… u cannot expect more than that from it.

a friend of mine is running the game on gt9800 GPU and e8500 Intel CPU… he doesn’t get lower then 40-30fps. i think you should try repairing the game, check different drivers for the GPU or to the rest of the laptop.

p.s. this game like most other mmo’s are cpu based so try small OC (and be careful..) to see you have slight improvements

You guys are just looking at the 2ghz bit and thinking to slow, reamber it is a laptop i7 2ghz is just the normal idle speed when gming guessing it is a 2630m? depending on how many cores beign used it will turbo up to about 2.6/2.9ghz.

Trust me these sandy/ivybridge I5/i7 CPU’s are still pretty dam fast.

ok, even though his laptop sucks we all still cant deny there are fps problems, even people with the newest cores and video cards are having problems, arenanet needs to step up to the plate and start optimizing their game

I tried the parking utility, as well as everything else I can find so far… Nothing I can do fixes this. I hope A.net will…
It worked so well for a week+ before…. no lag at all. Such a shame for something that has so much potential…

If i stay and think i actually had better performances at launch than now.

I’m pretty sure some patch screwed something along the way.

it can be that one patch change graphics to be less or more CPU wise.. some ppl say the graphics are better since the beta’s. i noticed improvement on my side with the new CPU (i5 3570K ivy) up from amd 6 cores T1100.
but still… 10 frames max

GW2 is all raw CPu mhz, which the OP does not have (not even close). He is stuck at 2Ghz as his processor will not turbo (not even 1mhz) because all 4 cores are being utilized.

OP, don’t waste your time trying anything to improve your fps, especially overclocking like one clown has already suggested. Laptops are not designed to be overclocked & will only end in tears.

If you want better performance then get yourself a “PROPER” gaming desktop or laptop.

Trouble is, even he spends 2000 USD on a gaming rig, he won’t get more than 15 frames per second on a crowded WvW event.

Anet already acknowledged the issue. Now it’s time they actually do something about it.

My current system is a 12GB, 3.8GHz i7 with an nVidia GTX690 GPU, and its slow even on that since some patch regressed performance. Or I should say slower, it runs fine but definitely not like it should.

The problem is primarily the game code, not people’s machines.

Your laptop will not run all the pretty stuff, but its faster than an old Opteron/8800 GPU system I have that runs 25FPS.

Yeah, his laptop totally sucks.

Come on, shut already this ‘lololol dat laptop sux’ because it’s not an ultra expensive Clevo based on a 980X.

That laptop is more than enough to play GW2 on medium at playable framerates. Don’t underestimate the power of the GTX560M, and when the CPU kicks in the Turbo Boost (which is most of the time playing GW2), it is more than enough for the game.

Now, don’t expect steady 60 FPS OP. Disable Antialiasing, disable optimal filtering, and put rendering on native. The rest can be medium/high no problem.

@CBuzz: The processor WILL Turbo. i7s have Hyperthreading, remember? Windows will most likely place GW2 on two physical cores and two virtual threads, allowing the processor to turbo those two cores being used.

And even if all the four cores were being utilized, keep dreaming about them being at 100% load.

The 560 mobile is NOT a crappy chip, and the i7 cpu does rock.. but you must realise that pvp in guildwars 2 is going to require you to drop your settings a few notches if you are already hovering 30fps or less normally. This is most likely due to the high poly count on player models, as well as supporting self shadowing on all of them.

Problem with laptop is that they have the half the capacity of their desktop counterparts.

HT != physical cores. He has a 4core processor with 4threads. GW2 WILL load 4 physical cores meaning his processor will definitely not turbo. Mabye not 100% on all 4, but it’s irrelevant because as soon as there is any load on all 4 cores Turbo is off.

The game does have FPS problems, not sure whats wrong with the idiot trolls in this thread.

There’s a thread with 100’s of users experiencing similar problems to the OP.

I run this game with a beasty PC, yet framerate in a lot of places dips to 15.
