Also switzerland/swisscom. But I don’t think this has something to do with the issue, since other people from other countries had/are having the same problem.
It does’nt seem like there will be a solution today. Still an official statement would be nice.

Do you have the white Centrino Grande router? You need to log into it (user and pass will be in documentation somewhere) at (in a browser) 192.168.1.1, go into Settings and on the first page there there’s an option to change Primary and Secondary DNS. I don’t know what OpenDNS address is, but google is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
Put it in and click save, and then go to the diagnostics page and reboot it. Or you can power cycle it on the router itself.

No, it doesn’t work.
Even after I remembered that I should flush the DNS cache, I still get the odd log in error and then the usual error 5x when I try to log in with my main.
Playing on the US server at this time isn’t fun because there’s almost a second’s ping, by the looks of it.

Strange that only Swiss/Swisscom users are posting on this thread. I’m pretty sure Swisscom is doing …. again.

Spam the heck out of @GuildWars2 on twitter to get them to notice.
I’ve also got a support ticket open but they first sent me a reply back talking about HoM (???) and then asked me a bunch of generic questions that really won’t help much unless we exchange about 20 emails.

I wonder if this is the same problem that GW1 was having a few months ago with regards to European traffic not being connect and play on EU servers.
If I remember, playing on a US server there also helped rectify the problem.
I have spammed FB and Twitter with links back to this thread – no joy yet.

I’m actually trying to switch some different DNSs and nothing is working out.
As a feedback I also have many friends who play from Italy regions, nobody has our problem guys!
Hope that with via TWITTER somebody is going to answer us, but I onestly don’t think it’s a problem they can fix, to me it sounds more like something the providers have to handle with

Same problem here, Swisscom too.
I tried Hotspot Shield(download at chip.de) and it work, but the connection is so bad, I always lose the connection.
Hotspot Shield is a VPN session over USA.
Start game with your “normal” connection, go to the char overview, then alt+tab, start hotspot, back to game and choose char.

Yea, that will be slow as heck – and might fall fowl of ANet’s anti-botting and anti-cheating software. Those programs usually do.

Yes i had some very similar issues in the past. It took Swisscom more than two weeks to fix… Hope it’ll be quicker. But i don’t know maybe it is not exactly the same problem this time. I’m not a network expert :S

open dns didnt fix it for me. Only thing that did, was transfering to an american server. its a temp fix, sure, but it allows me to play for the meanwhile at least.

I can (probably) confirm that this is a swisscom issue: Playing at home (via swisscom) produces said error. Connecting through my work-vpn (which isn’t using swisscom) works…
edit: yes, confirming above picture. swisscom reports that one officially, although i don’t know if its related since playing on saturday worked just fine

that would affect “every” connection. I am only having issues with guild wars 2, nothing else.
I can (probably) confirm that this is a swisscom issue: Playing at home (via swisscom) produces said error. Connecting through my work-vpn (which isn’t using swisscom) works…
Maybe not directly swisscom because some french folks said they have the same problem, but at least some node on the way toward NC servers.
And yeah if that fault was anything to do with it why did we only get booted out today?

Yeah I know… Just after writing my reply, the same error occured. That’s the reason why I deleted it… Too sad. It worked for like 10 minutes.
Even identification server is difficult to reach. Definitely a network issue as ID servers are in the US if i remember.
Situation not aided by thousands of new players trying to log in – they reopened sales and a LOT of people are downloading/patching.

I’d be interested in this too, I’ve tried both OpenDNS and GoogleDNS now and it makes no difference for me.
He might just get kicked out again when he tries to get into an instance or city.
