I’ve actually read about more issues using auto-detect than manually playing with settings here and there.

Make sure your computer is specifically using your discrete graphics card (7660D) rather than the integrated. It sounds silly, but better to be certain than suffering. (Disable any kind of automatic switching or swapping)

You can try deleting the local.dat file (my documents/guild wars 2), this will completely reset your graphics settings. Have a play with them after this and see if you have any increase.

Also, check to make sure you’re not overheating while playing. Verify both your CPU and GPU temps. You can post them here if you’d like others to take a look for you. This is a great app for troubleshooting issues.

Btw, I’d love to get 20fps in LA (~14fps medium/high settings), but I’m on a Mac laptop so I could never hope for that without going back to my bootcamp partition or playing on all low settings lol.

Shadows, reflections, shaders then resolution in that order are the most demanding options for what it’s worth. This isn’t a game you can realistically run ‘maxed out’ and expect good performance throughout on even the best hardware out right now. It’s a cold hard truth where GW2 is concerned as of this moment.

You mentioned a 4770. It would help to some extent but it to takes both strong single threaded performance and a decent mid-range gpu to get this game to play remotely nice, not just one or the other. The A10 doesn’t have the strongest single threaded performance so it will be a limiting factor.

That said, Try with no vsync (it will kill performance) no shadows and reflections and set the character limit to medium (this is comparable to the default culling before the recent pve changes to it) The game will still retain it’s look for the most part and performance will improve. Auto Detect always sets things optimistically high… If performance is still too low for your liking play with the shader option (this has the biggest effect on visual fidelity so it’s a last resort) Failing that try running at a lower resolution than 1600×900. 1280×720 will work but the image will be scaled and much softer. Also medium textures might be wise. The 7660D is uses system ram so even though it has access to a large pool of memory it’s much lower bandwidth than dedicated gpu memory you’d find on most discrete video cards.

Beyond that the other settings will do a bit for performance but not as much as the ones I already suggested playing with. Depth of field and post processing are more a preference and don’t hurt performance too much.

The system I threw together for my girl runs things at 1280×720 all low settings on an i3 2120 and hd6850 for what it’s worth and performance is still pretty bad at times so don’t expect any miracles.

thx man for replying me its kinda helped me but yeh gw2 engine is pretty bad i saw some forum this morning and shet ……. they throw up amd and nvidia help to get better perfomance for the game and nope….. i wont pay a nasa pc just for this game they need to change thing or atleast talk to us like ’ yes we are trying to get better perfomance or else but no.’ still there been 9month fps issue is there.

Yes I wouldn’t recommend spending a lot on a machine to solely play this game.

Outside of what I mentioned if you are familiar / comfortable with the prospect of over clocking, it’s also an option if you know what you are doing.

That’s about what I expect. I have an A8-3820 with an integrated HD 6550D, run on best appearance with DoF and Best Filtering unchecked, and get around 26 open world. If I go with auto-detect, which is nearly best performance, I get in the mid 30s. I can get LA frame rate up if I set the two culling settings to low.

It’s a personal preference trade off. I don’t mind the herky jerky nature of LA’s frame rate if that means I can see all the pretty player models rather than generic Race/Profession model. For big events I switch to best performance, like the current portal hunting events because in the midst of battle, I’m don’t care about pretty player models or the scenery, just putting the twisted clocks and pirates down.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

Get a Radeon 6670 to crossfire with your APU, http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0086A7AB8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1377280835&sr=8-1&pi=SL75 You should see better fps then.

Multi gpu scaling is pretty poor in GW2. Also with entry level gpus it’s usually better to just get a stronger discrete for a bit more instead of going multi gpu with something weaker. Crossfire also still has frame pacing issues with DX9 code paths (AMDs recent frame pacing beta driver only effects DX10/11 so Gw2 still has pacing issues with crossfire)

If you end up feeling like you want to throw more hardware at the problem later on look out for a cheap Gtx 650 or hd 77xx. Either option would be significantly faster than the A10s gpu. Anything much more than that would be a waste as the cpu would bottle neck anything much faster by a noticeable amount.

Multi gpu scaling is fine. Where having crossfire doesn’t effect fps in gw2 is when the CPU is bottlenecked by a lot of people on screen or being in a large city.

To put it more plainly then, the benefits of multiple video cards in GW2 is largely limited to higher resolution output and / or super sampling. It doesn’t help in nearly all of the cases where people encounter low performance.

In Derathore’s case, it’s not an option I’d recommend to pursue.

It’s the cheapest and most effective upgrade without switching his processor and buying a more expensive video card.

Well if money is no issue sure you could build a new system. But changing to an Intel CPU means getting a new mobo as well.

Your CPU is fine IMO. I would however suggest two things for you to do to increase performance. First is if you have a cooler like a hyper 212 evo, you should be able to overclock that CPU to at least 4.5 ghz. Which will help. Also, if you have 1600 MHz memory, or even 1333, replace that with 2400 MHz as with an APU, your ram is being used as graphics memory, so the faster the ram on a system that has an APU , the faster your fps. If those two don’t yield better performance to your liking , which they should increase your fps by 15-20 fps, try also getting a 6670
