I’m using a fujitsu lifebook L series these are the specs :
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Core i7-620 (2.66Ghz, 3MB, 800Mhz)
2x 2GB DDR3 1066MHz
500GB SATA HDD
NVIDIA Geforce 310M 512MB Graphics
i’m getting around 10+fps on low settings and below 5 on high settings

you video card is on the low end. check out here:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-310M.22439.0.html
and here:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+310M
and you can see that video card is not a card made for gaming. it doesnt even match up to an HD 3000 which is integrated graphics.
your processor is ok. it should be able to do decent frame rates if it was paired with a more powerful video card.
can you post your dxdiag?

The performance on high settings is pretty much as expected – your laptop just isn’t upto that. Regarding your performance on low, is that with all settings on the absolute lowest, including Render Sampling set to Subsample? If not, give that a try. I know it won’t look pretty, but it’s the only way the game is playable on low end setups like yours.
I would expect that on bare minimum settings you might be able to squeeze out about 15-20 fps if you’re running at 1366×768 and assuming that your laptop isn’t downclocking itself for power or heat reasons (when gaming always have your laptop plugged in and on a flat hard surface and check that power options are set to best performance / cooling under those circumstances).
That’s about as much performance as you can expect from it though and the reason for that is mainly your graphics chip. Your 310m is essentially a rebranded 210m, which is a 4 generations old chip that is at the bottom of the performance scale – what this means is that while it may be able to run more graphically intensive games, it struggles when it comes to the performance, especially on games that are not very forgiving even on minimum settings and resolutions (like GW2).

get ahold of a monitoring program and check your gpu and cpu usage when playing GW2.. i suspect that your GPU is maxing out.. becouse a modern day procesor ..even one that is on the slow side of 2.66ghz ..should be able to give better peformance than what your seeing.

OK so i just unboxed my alienware X51 this afternoon after running GW2 with a dated but capable system (which ran the game on med-high with a steady mid20-mid 30 FPS) and btw the alienware X51 is the high end £1000 model with the i7 core and gtx660 graphics card. Only to my extreme frustration be smacked in the face with an extremely low 1FPS and major freezing issues to the point where i couldn’t even exit the game and have had to hit the power button a few times.
Now is it just me doing something not right or is there something bad afoot because im hearing the low FPS and freezing issues everywhere over these forums.

since you just unpacked it, did you run windows update to make sure its up to date? and do you have a latest drivers for your card? (i think they’re on 306.23)

Yea the 600 series cards are not likeing GW2 atm. But i have not heared of anythign as extreme as what your saying. Run some stress tests on your gpu make sure it isnt borked.
On another note… why in the name of …anything ..would you spend £1k on an alienware ..they are soooo overpriced >.< owell no matter.

yeah i just updated all my drivers going through windows update, to be honest its been a bit of a hectic day so maybe it’s just me overlooking something thanks for the info and i’ll get back in touch and let you know how it goes. and i bought the alienware just because its compact and i dont have an airfied to set my rigging up in lol so i went for space accomodating rather than anything else thats meant to be reliable my friends say they love theres…. oh well
SolarNova is right on both points: 600-series seem to have issues (I get the impression they are underpowered—GPU needs more juice than what is being delivered—test it by increasing voltage) and Alienwares are overpriced and I will add with no guarantee of stability—basically, you’re going to have to screw with it anyway. (I highly recommend reading the sticky that discusses it, “How to get performance” or some such is the title.) BTW, 660 is mid-range, not high-end; 690 or 680 SLI is high-end.
Is your Alienware overclocked? If so, they may not have done it right. CPU freezes indicate that. Additionally, make sure cooling is adequate; I don’t like that teeny-tiny case with with its goofy arrangement (take the panel off, point a desk/floor fan at it).
In all honesty, if you can return it, I couldn’t recommend that enough.
