When the fire elemental spawns, my frame rate goes from smooth to something absolutely atrocious while it materialises (though it’s fine once it’s all there), and whispers agents dropping their smoke bombs causes my frame rate to drop quite sharply as well.
Is this a problem on my side or is it the game itself? Apart from this my game works fine, it’s just those two gfx seem to be really computer intensive.
More than likely its the game engine causing issues. Just to be sure though, what GPU and CPU are you running?

I have the same issue as you describe, runs fine, starts lagging pretty bad as fire elemental manifests, then runs fine again after he’s fully spawned.
Intel I7 2600k 3.4 ghz
Evga GTX 560 TI
8gb DDR3 ram
Latest drivers, double checked as writing this. All windows updates done and I’ve previously tried file checking gw2 just incase maybe a graphic file was corrupt. I’m not the only one who has this issue, my roommate experiences this too.

In this case where the CPU and GPU are meant for gaming, this is a game engine issue, a lot of people have this problem, including myself.
The reason I ask is that sometimes I find someone that has a computer that they expect to work wonders when it was never designed to.
