First thing, do you have the latest drivers for your video card?

What cpu cooler do you have? Have you monitored your cpu temps while playing using an app called RealTemp, CoreTemp, or HWMonitor?

Alot of people are having this issue. I personally believe its a problem with the game itself.

I have this issue. I replaced my motherboard with a newer one, updated the bios, chipset drivers, Reformatted the HDD and reinstalled and updated windows. Nothing but GW2 and updated drivers installed on my PC. Still crashes.

I swapped out my video card to an older one and will try that later, right now I’m just too fed up to care to try

It is GW2, and ONLY GW2 that causes it for me, also. Battlefield 3, the beta of 4, Arma 2 and 3 and Metro are probably the most intensive games I play. And Kerbal Space Program with the number of mods is definitely the Ram Hungriest I play. All of those are perfectly fine. Prime95, Furmark, Memtest, OCCT also all run without issues

Tana, if you right click My Computer and click manage, then go to the event viewer, Windows, and System. Is there a WHEA Logger error about your Northbridge/Hypertransport Watchdog Error?

Alot of people are having this issue. I personally believe its a problem with the game itself.

Well if that the case then 400,000+ people that play this game in any given hour don’t have this problem. I don’t have this problem all the friend I play with don’t have this problem. The problem lies in the varied different PC configuration out there Anet can’t test for all of them. Looking threw the tech support forums the number of people that have a problem with this game is very low. I no this doesn’t help with your issue but for all intense a and purpose this game is fairly stable. Just keep researching and trying everything that people have done with success and if you do find an answer please post it it may help others and keep in mind that the problem could be a defective component in you PC.

The game can not reboot your PC a cheap out of spec power supply will when it’s low quality and the volts for the motherboard are not stable when stressed. Now for the other games don’t do this. Other games are not pushing the PC like this one is processor wise.

Thanks for all the answers. Reinstalled all drivers from the video card and the same thing happened.
I looked all topics related to the same problem.
I found that the only way to make the game run without turning off the computer is reducing all the game settings.
What I found really funny is that I did not notice much difference in high and low setting of the game.
Frankly I think this is a problem of game programming for certain hardware configurations.
But what matters is that I’m playing and enjoying the game.
Thanks for the replies.

Your power supply is too small for the GPU at least when you are playing the game it is demanding more power.

On what basis? The 600watt PSU that the OP has can not only power the cpu and vid card he has, but it is beyond overkill for that setup. To put into perspective, A 1,000watt QUALITY psu can power 3 GTX Titans alongside an overclocked i7 with no problem….

An example for a similar setup would be, from the wall a 7870 with an i5 3570k pulls 211 watts from the wall via a P3 Kill-A-Watt power meter. If you have no idea wtf you are talking about, please don’t post “advice” as it is merely your opinion based on nothing.

I dunno if there is no BSOD, I would be looking at that power supply, it says minimum rating 500 w, but requires more than 75watts, PSU might be at weak or may have an issue (minor).

Manufacturers list minimums for people with no knowledge of power supplies to stay in a ‘safe net’ type of zone. A quality 400watt is more than enough to power his system @ full load.

System crashes can go so far as being a monitor issue with certain games to as simple as being drivers at fault, be it BSoD code or not.

As sobe.4157 said, the keyword here is quality.

There are a couple of important considerations when buying a power supply for a gaming machine:

1. The amount of current (amps) available on the rail(s) (12 volt rail is most important). On the 12 volt rail(s) aim for at least 30 amps (or more).

2. The amount of switching noise the power supply produces. Low quality power supplies tend to have more noise, which can interfere with how the hardware operates – often the results are unpredictable (crashes, freezes, etc.).

BTW, most (not all) computer manufacturer’s tend to use low quality power supplies not intended for extensive gaming.
