proxy authentication required
Typically the way these things work, you sign in on your web browser, and then your PC is allowed access, however, it’s almost impossible to say at a distance.
I signed into my wed browser, but every program i use either asks for my credentials (username and pass) or wont connect…
Same problem for me. Can’t login inside GW2 client cause it doesn’t ask for proxy credentials like other programs do.
Does anyone finds solution?
You may need to contact your college IT support. They maybe only proxying web traffic and might not support the GW2 client.
You can change gw2 to use port 80 (should be unlocked when you sign in on your browser).
Use this argument in the shortcut “/clientport 80”

I am playing at college and today is registration, so they took the regular wifi away and put a proxy in with a username and password. well i have to log every program in to the server. How do i do that with guild wars… or my whole pc?
typically saying, Proxy’s that use User Authentication run off your Global Internet Settings, Proxy Setting.
Once you Authenticate, any application that uses the Default Internet Explorer settings in windows will auto-auth to the proxy. Applications that wont, would be like Firefox (has its own Proxy settings), Putty, Chrome….ect.
GW2 should use the default browsers proxy settings (IE, in your case I hope). Else you have to install a Proxy Application Agent to Bridge your Non-supported Application and the Proxy Authentication Process.
You will want to contact your School IT support Team and explain to them that you have an application that may not work with a Proxy connection and you need access to an unrestricted VLAN.
Typically, you have to sign a fair use agreement for this, some schools charge for the service, then they simply grab your PC’s Mac address and give it rights into the network that go around the proxy.

iTunes (on Windows) also uses default proxy settings and it asks for proxy username and password. Connection in iTunes works only after I enter proxy credentials.
GW2 client doesn’t ask any credentials and in IE settings there is no username and password fields for proxy, so I believe this is the problem.
“/clientport 80” – doesn’t work either..
