I had a HD 5770 1 gigabyte. I replace that with the Vapor X 7970 6gb. I did not receive any improvement with fpsyou or graphics actually it was the same or worse. I’m hearing that Guild Wars 2 is having a hard time with high end video cards. Any help will be greatly appreciated thank you

its your cpu
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Will-the-lousy-fps-be-fixed
read that thread and comment.

it dosnt matter how good your videocard is, even the best cpu will bottle neck it, people with 3960x cpu’s in excess of 5ghz with dual 7990 videocard would still drop to around 30fps in DE’s and WvWvW, and below 60 in LA……

welcome to GW2, dont expect anet to fix the perf issues, they have had 6 months to do so, or to even comment on fixing it, and they havent……

what you can expect though is news about Quagan Backpacks and other must have items from the gem shop……

I actually had fps issues when I updated to the latest 13.1 catalyst drivers and control center released on 1/17/2013. I uninstalled and switched back to the 12.10 I was using previously and poof, no fps issues at all once again. Using “the latest drivers” is usually the cause of the majority of issues I run into, not the solution. I’ll stick with the ones I know work well.

I use a Radeon HD 5750 1gig.

its a bad idea to use old drivers with a 7000 series card when the 13.2 beta’s are out and have so many fixes and perf boosts in them (including for gw2)

What sucks is that I JUST got this game, and after every other game I own works perfectly fine (Deux Ex, TF2, Left 4 Dead, Borderlands, etc) this game just tanks even on low settings . Im running an i5 2500K, HD7770. Drivers and hardware are working fine, as I can play any other game perfectly.

theodonkulus: your best bet is to get that 2500k to at least 4.6ghz, and yeah, alot of us can feel your pain, check the lousy fps thread and leave a comment there…..

this game needs alot of work sadly.

I did download the 13.2 drivers. So hopefully that help a little. I have zero clue on how to OC my cpu. So i guess i’ll wait for GWS2 to fix this problem which is like never form what i hear. But at least alot of weight is lifted off my shoulders knowing its not my graphics card lol.

RampQB then you got ripped off, the K series cpu’s only point in existing is to overclock…..

go over to overclockers.net and ask for some starter advice, if you got a decent board, 4.5 should be cake, and overclocking is alot of fun, i just dont think you should be forced to oc to get a game to run worth a kitten

And not to mention it probably won’t do you a whole lot of good, especially on an i5-i7.

GW2 really isn’t that high-end, it just poorly utilizes resources especially on higher-end rigs.

Better usage of the GPU and better support for i5-i7(especially i7’s) processors and you’ll see a lot less issues. I mean come on, my processor is an i7 3.5Ghz with 3.9Ghz turbo… and you really think any amount of OC is going to improve the 30fps I get in large scale battles?

I have a friend with a nearly identical rig and guess what? She gets crappy frames in WvW battles—surprise, surprise.

oh 4.5-t4.6ghz would give you a boost in fps, thing is, min fps in this game are always gonna suck……but then again so do the max fps in normal play situations like LA……

overclocking is fun, but it should never be required to get acceptable perf out of a game when using high end hardware….be it i5/i7/phenom II/FX line/exct.

to many of us this is just unacceptable…..and its why we refuse to give anet any more money….

I don’t see the point to OC, when the game is designed for something far less… Why should I put the risk on my parts to OC it to 4.2Ghz? I’m actually considering a refund since I bought the game not even a week ago and still haven’t been able to figure out why it doesn’t work properly.

theodonkulus: no real risk overclocking if you have half decent parts and cooling, you shouldnt have to but its one of the few ways your going to get this game to stay at or above 30fps game wide…….

anet support wont help you here most of the time you need to submit a ticket with your problem and wait for them to contact you back.

Refunding for inadequate performance due to not wanting to overclock? Wow, maybe the refund tickets citing unwillingness to overclock high end hardware will make the devs think.

doubt they would see it, only the support dept and possibly the guy running it would see it.

remember that most dev’s want their creations to be “perfect” and dont like the kind of flaws that are driving us nuts, but they also dont want to be jobless so they do what they are told by management, in this case, that is to work on anything but fixing the client side performance issues, because, as we all know by now, Quagan Backpacks are more important to anet management and bottom line then the game performing acceptably….after all most people wont ask for a refund even if they cant run the game…. they will just blame their computer or internet….

Quagan Backpacks all around!!!
