"unplayable" lag issue.......
Oh and another thing I noticed at the same time….
Sometimes, when you have a mob selected…in their name or description it has a weird uppercase “E” with a little accent mark over it. I also noticed this on some items..nothing specific comes to mind at the moment though. I would happily log in and tell you, but with the lag, and now not being able to click certain mobs or NPC’s sometimes, I can not. The problem seems to get worse and/or new with each patch.
Any luck Faun?
I too have been hit by a sudden and unexpected lagfest. I can run around Wvw maps like Tom Cruise in Times Square in Vanilla Sky and BOOM! I am suddenly a splat on the floor.
I tried this: (WARNING! I am techno useless and have no idea if it is detrimental to your hardware, and is advisable. Do it at your own risk. In fact, I would prefer it if someone more PC savvy gave it the nod before you tried it.)
Once GW2 is running, control-alt-del to the task manager. Find the GW2 process. Right click it. Set priority to high.
It improved performance no end for me. Your mileage may vary.
Good luck.

I’ve been having the same trouble for several days now right after coming back to GW2. Very disappointed when I pick to return there is no way to properly play. ;.; I can only get on for 5 to 20 minutes at a time before it disconnects due to 7:11:3:190:101. Hope this can be worked out.
Well today this happened to me. 100 mbits connection here, not a single lag problem till today. And now I`m lagging killing Oak champ in Queensdale? :O LOL Anet, do smth.
Any luck Faun?

This will have no detrimental effect on anything, I’ve been doing this since last year and it won’t cause the computer any harm.

Sorry, im ether having brain fart or somthing or ur just not being clear. Clear this up for me and ill see if i can help.
Op u first talk about Lag, then Low FPS, then ur ISP/Lag again. What exactly do u have an issue with? Do you have ‘Lag’(lag= Internet/network latency issues causing delayed responses) ..or do u have low FPS ?

I had a lag issue when I would play the game and when things started using a lot of processing power. Turned out it was my “thermal throttle” setting in bios, when the processor started heating up from all the graphics, it would kick on and throttle my cpu to 50%. I ended up turning mine off in bios and have not had any lag issues since, minus the skill lag when there are a ton of people on certain dynamic events or wvw.

Yes to this. To each of you having problems with “lag”, please be more clear on what you are “lagging” at. Internet lag, or lack of response to your commands, is not the same as graphics lag, or low FPS (Frames per second). Please clarify so that we may help you further.
To the OP, and others, sounds like you are referring to graphic lag, or low FPS. Forget about your internet connection at this point, as it has nothing to do with your problem. My only suggestion at this point, until provided with more information, is that it may be your power settings. Your graphics card may be down-clocking itself to preserve battery (if on a desktop) or use less power (if on a desktop). Look into changing when your videocard downclocks itself. Sometimes they do not recognize when you are using exhaustive programs for long periods of time, or it may be due to overheating.
Situation seems to have become worse with the last patches. It definitely is not net lag, as I am playing with my children with two computers at the same time using the same DSL gateway – same server, same map – issues with only one computer .
Reason for the lag on one machine is extensive CPU-usage. All eight cores run at full load. Freezes and severe lag occur even when all other stuff including firewall and antivirus is stopped.
The game occasionally runs fluently for a short time even with many players in group events.
Looks like some thread synchronisation and or resource monitoring issues burn the CPU running tight loops with certain hardware setups.

For the last 7 days roughly I have experienced some really horrific lag in game. Initially I thought network, so I picked a couple of websites, like the www.bbc.co.uk and ran a ping -n 100 www.bbc.co.uk and everything game back fine.
Tonight I was experiencing the same kind of problems, so did the same test. Of the 100 packets I sent to www.bbc.co.uk, I was at min 14ms, max 55ms, average 21ms.
Tech details. Running on Gunnars hold, connecting from the UK, on a 60Mb/5Mb connection with Virgin Media Cable.

GW2 on kitten .D. (Vertex 2E)
Hardwired to the router, via a Cat 5e connection (PC -> HP 1810G24 -> Draytek 2820Vn).
I am a great believer in leaving my Gaming PC well alone, so once I experienced problems, I updated the graphic drivers. No change.

Ditto.
For the past two weeks or so the game has been unplayable. I’ve updated drivers, uninstalled/reinstalled, and changed connection settings…all with no effect. GW2 is the only thing having the problem and I’m at a loss at what else to do. A bit disappointed I’ve missed the Dragon Bash stuff because of this nonsense.
On the brightside…I’ve discovered DCUO (late to the party, right?).
