A LOT of SBIers do not care about winning the match-up.
Good, because you don’t seem to be able to. I just don’t understand how you guys got higher ranked than bp, or ar. Nothing against you personally but as for wvw both are above you in tactics alone.
BP outnumbers SBI yet SBI was struck hard by by both BP and AR at the beginning of the match-up because we were higher ranked. Pretty funny in hindsight. I’m guessing AR nor SBI realised just how much coverage and numbers that BP had.
We’re higher ranked because we moved our way up the tiers by beating our opponents. You know, the usual way servers move up ranks. We’re losing this match-up for a variety of reasons, shoddy tactics inclusive. However let’s not play ignorant and pretend BP haven’t gained numbers recently.
Also, some people are delusional and somehow think that our huge numbers at particular times should = good coverage and don’t realise our numbers are very sporadic, once US prime time is over we could have a 330 tic or a 130 tic, it’s very up and down depending on the day.
Always funny listening to the server with the most players start the crap talking, lol. What would a wvw thread be without it? We da best because we got da most people!
Oh and consider it pried.
We got asked to help on eb, but only had 7 people to fight the ar/sbi. Not saying you guys were allied, just that you were fighting our guards together and not fighting each other =P. Either way we still held out. Just don’t have the numbers to compete. It’s cool though, we still win this week =)
“Just don’t have the numbers to compete.” – lol
Anyway I don’t care about any of what you just said since the comment wasn’t directed at you, it was a friendly jibe at the dude who ranted and raved about being zerged but also said SBI wouldn’t have their hills back.
I care about winning. Jic does too. Wraith, Krash etc. I could go on.
Thing is we see so much noobness if we try to correct it all, we’d all go bald. (no offense to bald guys)
We try to help in ways we can but our patience has limits too and sadly a lot of it has been reached, so they just go along.
Come to BP. Take your pick of other servers that will actually appreciate and welcome that attitude. I would rather have my server say “yeah we lost, but we tried kitten hard” over “we don’t care about winning”.
There are plenty of servers where you would be appreciated I’m sure.

We had SEVEN people on EB defending at vel/ow/keep earlier. Seven against all of those sbi. That’s not a joke. Maybe the numbers seem inflated because we turned back a much larger force. I’m sure I have some screen shots if you guys want me to look. I’m not claiming you guys outnumber us all of the time, but at least on EB you guys have a much larger presence. That’s been admitted to earlier.
As for the other part, I misunderstood. Sorry.

Thanks for our hills back. The majority of our ranking we have was from when we were a Tier 1 Server. We kept this ranking because the previous matchup system was broken. It will take time for us to settle into our true ranking.
We knew full well that it was a battle of attrition to get our hills back. Sadly BP you lost because we were willing to stay up later or we have more oceanics. Don’t know which. Also the force you meet when we took it was more of the organized group. Earlier it was a bit of both.
Hopefully the core WvW players learned a lesson this matchup. And by core I mean those that are in the battle for winning. The battle is won or lost in the borderlands. You don’t want to just let it fold because if a invader wants to hold it they can and they will. We will still have randoms go into EB to follow whatever commander is there. That is fine let them.
Keep it classy and remember that true pride is not won by the blowing of the horn or of the beating of the chest. True pride in the server and the fun that comes with it is given by selfless service to your server.

To those SBI’er boasting about EB, don’t. It is nothing to boast about and its obvious those who are boasting have no idea what WvW is about, were not here during our tier 1 days and are selfish pver’s, cause you don’t care about what the rest of you’re server is doing in the other borderlands. Its idiotic, just stop.
EB SBI was worried about pushing SM and were hitting AR while a ton of SBI BL commanders and population were hitting Hills. Had to have multiple people go to the map and ask them to push BP and not worry about god kitten SM. Like I said, there is SBI BL’s which is one server and there is a completely different server called SBI EB, that is the lvl 20 dungeon that so many pver’s love to frequent.

If you weren’t giggling throughout the time you wrote this I’m sure you did by the end of it… tell me the truth, did you? Don’t lie you know you did.
I am posting the above with the utmost sincerity. Far be it from me to give advice, but SBI, if you don’t want to get buried into tier 7, you need to realize Eternal is not the only map.
Funny, sounds like utmost arrogance to me. SBI is not a server that runs around for points but for fun, for fighting (my opinion from observation). Not for keeping towers over a prolonged period of time or BL. Guess you did not notice other people posting that already. SBI does not care what tier they are in. Glad this seems to be of absolute importance to you, but all servers are different. Whether that makes sense to you or not is irrelevant. Would I like SBI to care more about points and keeping towers, of course. Would I like SBI to care more about BL, yes. But that is just me.
This whole: our server rolled you garbage is really tedious.
I can say the same thing about Borlis those times you sent 30 people to take our North camp over and over. We rolled you, thanks for the bags. It happens that sometimes we wipe out your zerg, sometimes you wipe out ours. Grats.
What I thought was a fun battle at Hills last night, to you seemed to be an annoyance. Guess we just view things differently.
Oh and I almost forgot to post this, [Lost] guild got rolled so many times on our BL’s last night before the big hills push, by puggles. Aren’t they suppose to be like……good? lol :P. I have screenies of them running away from us, to no avail, got stomped. Will post em later, for giggles, when I am home from work. For all the crap they talk, I can’t say I have been impressed seeing them in action.

You have only fought one-half the legendary power that is [Jyst][Lynx], just you wait, ye deviants.
Fun times today in AR BL. With even numbers, you guys couldn’t taken back bay that had 0 supply which also was getting treb from garrison. But at the same time SBI was attacking briar and vale for a long while. But we still held our ground.
Kudos to all those at BP that helped and held Bay. Especially when we had to risked it pushing into AR’s treb. If AR knew how to defend those treb properly and wiped us in the process, it woulda been game over for us, luckily they didn’t.
Of course they were even numbers, about 15 min ago there was 9 AR at garri moving on bay, and 4 when you had the AC and balista up. Maybe that changed in the 15 min it took me to drive home from work, but the very fact that you felt the need to say even numbers shows you were insecure about that fact. But I will give credit where it is due, you held off 9 ppl, you should be proud.
lol. wut? He was talking about 3am WvW? what the hell BP! You guys brag about day capping our BL and defending bay @ 3am vs 15 folks… what next? bragging about flipping our upgraded camps?
You really need to go back to school and learn to count. Always coming up with excuses just because you couldn’t taken back bay from us and most of our main forces was in SBI BL holding hills. No serious attempt lol, funny.
Props to BP for putting on a clinic on how to hold onto Hills. Glad we (SBI) finally got that sucker back.

I have the exact same problem. I get frustrated continually by our servers frequent “noobness”. I think a lot of players don’t realize that some put a lot of effort (ex: escorting yaks) and cash into upgrades so they have nothing invested if something is captured or they empty supply from upgrading areas. That frustration is a me thing though… everyone is playing for fun so sometimes I know I need to ease up on the “what are we doing?” thoughts.

This was probably my favorite part of the match-up (my least favorite part being this thread). It felt like a week-long siege to finally get that thing back, and it feels great finally having it.
Don’t worry ALS pretty sure we have quite a few screenies of you guys running with your tails up your kitten from anything close to an even fight, again I remember maybe 1-2 times you stomped all of us(which btw last night was max 8 maybe 9 people) so you may have killed 1-2 of us, likely me considering I love bonzai attacking into the middle of your Zergs and seeing how long I last, distract for everyone else to escape your numbers, we even went to SBI BL last night bc you guys would never fight and it was boring sitting in your BL, until later when it got fun… Still fights weren’t as good/ close as the few we had with SBI
Props to BP for putting on a clinic on how to hold onto Hills. Glad we (SBI) finally got that sucker back.
Likewise, major props to SBI for finally taking it back. Regardless of everything being said by our server, whether here, on TS, or wherever, you guys were doggedly persistent and it paid off. Nice job
I am afraid that the great EB vs Borderlands divide on SBI will never be resolved. As this match has shown us, server response when a call for assistance goes out can mean the difference between taking a keep and losing it. Much thanks to BP for the schooling they gave us on Hills, and to Aeros for his assessment and insights.
Any dueling being had this afternoon? Would love to have a fight club of some sort going on before I work tonight!
Any dueling being had this afternoon? Would love to have a fight club of some sort going on before I work tonight!
Shakes my head in shame. Hopefully Custom Arena’s will stop this nonsense.
Umm I guess we could have a fight club at 9pm BP BL behind the windmill? Or we can try at least
I think in reality, people stay on EB during NA primetime because SBIers do, in fact, like winning.
And on EB, that is what we do. Our EB crew is super amazing in open-field fights, and I mean that. I have seen our zerg fight 2 enemy zergs of equal numbers on both sides of us, and we come out on top. I even sat there like.. WUT HAPPENED? We were surrounded!
So I think most of the people who go onto EB are looking to win, and they don’t really care about the points. They are just looking for good fights that they know they can win.
While it does indeed suck that our BL maps are left almost entirely empty due to this, I can’t fault people for having fun. I occasionally join in on EB to take part in the epic wipes we have against enemy zergs. At points, enemies just learn to run when they see our zerg approaching, because they know they will lose…
Oh boy where to start…nutz, you say BP always underestimates our numbers and such, that was a lot more than 9 people attacking and trebling bay especially since their were orange sword multiple times…Kodak your just such an over zealous prick and pretty much exemplify what most people hate about AR and ALS….lmfao at “wiping” us between bay and garri, you mean attacking/ charging at the wall and killing. 2 -3 people with 20-30 than running off again and occasionally coming in bay and killing a few forward scouts? Ya that’s definitely wiping us, maybe when we tried to ac the teens down first was only time we wiped, most of the time all I saw when we put any numbers of decent size out there was the big ole backs of ALS that we are all used to seeing….ya how long did hills take you to get back last night? And oh ya sorry like 60-70 people hitting it with omegas and alphas along with regular siege and the keep that’s opposite of our spawn with SBI attacking us when trying to get in the south, great job there just fantastic I doubt BP could ever do that…
As I said it may have changed in the 15 min it took me to get home, at the time I was there, there were calls out for S hills. I was standing on the ledge just above the water dancing watching the BP mesmer pull ppl off the ledge. I found it quite funny that the AR guys kept running up 1 by 1 and getting pulled off. When they finally jumped down to kill the AC/balista there was 9 green dots, they chased BP just past the sentry, thats when I logged and drove home. If more showed up then good job at holding bay but that was at 4:00 am EST so its just hard to believe there was a large force trying to get bay at that time.
The match is coming to an end, I’m actually hoping we get BP again because all the smack talk aside most of you are a good bunch of folks, unfortunately I’m pulling another 15 hour day so I won’t be able to come to fight club if it happens.
Nutz if you do look for/whisper me you are one of the few I would definitely want to fight…also I logged by 1am EST so don’t know what happened after that, pretty sure when I left though bay was being trebled again and besides bay we maybe had one of the bay camps and nothing else…btw can anyone update if we still have AR bay?
It looks like BP has all 3 bays.

I don’t know that I was as impressed by the hills defense as everyone else. 12-15 ACs and 3-4 trebs in a t3 hills are a pretty tough nut to crack if you can reliably call in 20 people to man them of course, but the real show was breaking through outer with 30 guys, setting up a beachhead on north gate, and getting zerged straight out. Not sure why they were hiding inside with near twice our numbers, but it certainly wasn’t what you’d call impressive. I don’t know, maybe all those guys ported in from other maps, but again, any keep is tough to take if you can call in 50 guys when needed and have twenty manning siege at any given time. Numbers are good in wvw, who knew?
I guess it showed commitment that SBI lacked.
Not trying to be overly critical, it was a hell of a lot of fun, but I’m not sure what there is to take from it except the stuff we already know only too well. Respond to calls for defense, numbers are good, be persistent. I guess ‘port in supply from other maps if you can’t leave the keep’? The fast repair on both gates when they had zero supply on the map was pretty good.

We actually were not hiding inside. My guild had 20 people doing a Balthazar Run when the sentries in hills started screaming into my Private Message “They are inside hills!! ZOMG, NOT ENOUGH DEFENDERS”
Shout went out across the maps, we pulled people from other WvW maps and PvE (like my Balthazar Run). We all headed to the border while the people inside hills began the waypoint countdown. (You can only get through the brief window on a contested Waypoint if you are already on the map) As soon as it opened for that briefest of moment, boom, we had a zerg. I called everyone on the map into our teamspeak. while the sentries delayed you with arrow carts and trebuchet fire. After that I got everyone to stack at the middle portal, stack might, drop fiery greatswords, veil, ball through them to the door, shut it and slam on back.
Pretty much how that fight went for 20 minutes until even more people trickled in and we were able to push you out entirely. After that we used the waypoints to bring supply in from the Overlook Keep in eternal to repair all our stuff and replace the destroyed siege weapons.
This is pretty much how we have held it all week. A few dedicated people willing to sit on the wall and wait for something to happen, with the Bat Phone nearby to call in the air strikes when the enemy rears its head.
(edited by Aeros.2046)
Generally allowing the enemy to build WPs on your home BL is a bad thing for all the reasons above.
Yeah, I just don’t know how exciting it all is. Drop siege, man it, call in overwhelming numbers when you’re going to lose. Pretty straightforward. Again though, it resulted in some very exciting action in game, so thankyou for that
Funny thing is I heard the game was not designed for people spamming the waypoint like that. However they have not come up with a way to stop it. I think it would require reworking some core mechanics of the game.

If you aren’t prepared to dig in, scout, escort yaks and basically sacrifice the karma train, then you will not win the week.

Although you’re correct, this hills defense was not a good example of it. You were going to lose it anyway. The appropriate response would have been ‘if you can’t call in 2x enemy numbers, then you will lose the keep’. How did you end up losing it btw? I was in bed asleep.

Keep in mind BP has been hammered for nearly three months straight by superior numbers and for a while better large scale tactics. SBI is now seeing the organization built around that environment. Being able to organize quickly and respond is a major upgrade to BP’s fighting capability. My hats off to the guilds that put that network together because getting a mostly PUG server to respond quickly is impressive at least to me.
While this isn’t generally my preferred style of play, it is still fairly amazing to watch and certainly grateful when it pushes back an almost certain defeat such as the SBI golem raid on Overlook last night. Had our commanders not come in at the last minute your servers well executed attack would probably have succeeded.
BP held it for 80 hours, so that’s 320 score ticks of a bonus 25 points. = 8k point bonus (16K if you count it as points you didn’t get) earned through defense and communication. Or about 1/5 of the point difference between our servers.
Also not counting the insane amount of gold, badges and supplies spent on siege we destroyed.
Lost it at 4am to a zerg/golem rush. You weren’t the only one in bed asleep.

Held off by 7 people, and easily taken out repeatedly because they lack any positioning.
They can win in EB because BP only dedicates minimal man power to holding our keep/few others. The war is won in the bls, not in EB and just looking at the score will prove that.
You might “win” in eb, but consider what you are fighting. We are just having fun most of the time in eb. Example from yesterday.
Second one is my favorite, Charr streaking through sm. lol

Outmanned vs. 20 SBI with 7 golems. AR was attacking our bay at the same time, so no response force available. Good job taking it back. We definitely were making an extra effort to hold it as lack of defense is one of our weaknesses we have been trying to work on this week.
Edit: ha, ha, the filter on this forum is funny. I wrote hitting with the word was in front of it, with a space and it ended up as wakittening.

I’m not sure why you keep crediting it to communication, yak escorting, etc etc while ignoring the fact that numbers held it. All the rest made it possible to bring the numbers to bear, but without one, the other fails. As Straegen said, putting together the network that enables those numbers to be brought to bear is admirable, it’s just interesting to see the mental contortion act some of you go through in order to attribute victory through numbers to anything but those numbers. In fact, with those numbers available, all you really needed was one guy inside to call backup. All the yak escorting and manning siege 24/7 could have been skipped.
I didn’t really buy into it when that AR guy said the same thing earlier, but I’m starting to think he was onto something

We don’t sit 50 people in a keep, we have the coordination to move people when needed as others have said.
You EB SBI folk are pretty overconfident in your open field skill, maybe we will have to bring the pink Zerg to EB tonight to show u what open field skill is, we have ignored EB all week

The thing is though the small group of escorting of the yacks and constant defence make them able to upgrade to a waypoint which allowed the numbers to come in a lot faster then they would have otherwise. And the small numbers watching hills notified the zerg to arrive. The zerg did not arrive via spawn it arrived via hills.
So part of the credit should also go to the fact that the game is still not working as designed by locking out a waypoint when it is under attack no matter the circumstances.
No, I get that you don’t get the point. Hopefully you do get that 2nd place is not out of your grasp.

I don’t know, when we got in we were out of supply, if they had to come from spawn it would only have been an extra 90-120 seconds. We wouldn’t have been in. I think it was sheer luck that we even got in through all that siege in the first place. How they failed to cap a single camp in all that time with the numbers they had before they called in the zerg is beyond me. At one point we had all of two guys guarding the north exit to stop them getting northeast camp.

I’m not sure why you keep crediting it to communication, yak escorting, etc etc while ignoring the fact that numbers held it. All the rest made it possible to bring the numbers to bear, but without one, the other fails. As Straegen said, putting together the network that enables those numbers to be brought to bear is admirable, it’s just a little amusing to see the mental contortion act some of you go through in order to attribute victory through numbers to anything but those numbers. In fact, with those numbers available, all you really needed was one guy inside to call backup. All the yak escorting and manning siege 24/7 could have been skipped.
I didn’t really buy into it when that AR guy said the same thing earlier, but I’m starting to think he was onto something
No we lost the first time we got in because we were too organized. Got separated and got wiped. Plain and simple. There were too many commanders on the map people did not know where to go or what to do. When we took it we were extremely organized. Read our community server forums. You will get a lot of information there.
And I’m sure BP could figure out how to counter my strat
Stay up later than you?

Everyone had fun, high fives all around, good night of WvW. What happens after I tag off, isn’t my concern. I’ve commanded 3 nights this week, all fun and successful for our side.
Yes bring you’re a ultra amazing group to EB. EB has said they need a challenge all week. In our BL’s for the past two hours the BP there have gotten pretty much stomped in the open field and got all our map back. Hmm go to EB and face the blob to show you’re superiority in the open field our come to our BL’s where you out number us generally. Tough choice!! I would say go to EB, they talking lots of smack bout how they the best SBI has to offer.
Server time? Hmm, you probably tagged off as I was logging on.
