Guild Wars 2

The past two weeks ive been looking for a small nice wvw guild, i pm a cople of their members and the first thing i get asked is “what class do you usually play”, to which i answer engi. Thats about when all of them so far start with the hummmmms, if you were guard or so…..

I understand a guild that raids on wvw needs some class balance and guards are a must but just how many does a guild need? from what ive seen theres lots of what i like to call “teamspeak guardians”, they are awesome really, if you ask for a line of warding they place it like a boss!! but besides that i regret to say people that usually create a toon to fit in have horrible fighting skills outside a group.

Is this what guilds are becoming, class based recruitment instead of player skills?

Hey Aryes, I agree with your comments, there are tons of guilds who mainly use guard/war/necro combo. I have been one of the guild leader and guild raid commander for a strike/havoc team 5-18 players. We had 3 regular engis at all time, support/heal, sniper engi and condi engi, not unusual to have 5 engis and 2 guards per raid, thief, 2-4 warriors, few mesmers, 1-2 eles, 1-2 necros.Saying that we kicked kitten a lot of trains with similar or bigger size. There are ways to counter stacked up trains, and engis have always place in a team. I think a lot of people are bit narrow minded they look at current meta but they don’t look how to counter it or change it. Its always good idea to know how to play other classes and knowing what each class can bring to the team is important. In my opinion there are no terrible classes just players that play them. All I can say, keep looking, there are tons of good guilds/players who think like you and have no build/class requirement, you just have to find them. Not every player wants play standard guard/war meta, or standardized build, it’s your game you should enjoy/change/experiment with build/classes there is always a counter to everything in this game. Forcing people to play given build/class was something my guild was always against. Due to busy in life/career few members of my guild including me had to stop playing hardcore wvw and guild currently taking it easy after over 1.5 years of havoc/strike team play, otherwise I would recruit you in a heart beat, but there are other guild like mine who will recruit guys like you.

Yeah, your best bet really is to try the lower tiers. People up in T1 and T2 are kinda set in their ways about what they think the ideal guild composition is…lower tiers are more willing to experiment, though…the fights might not be as regular.

It’s kinda disappointing. I don’t know if it’s just people not trusting their engi players on their server or just a general dearth of engi players in the wvw population to actually consider the experiment worth it, but theoretically, a large group of engineers would be the basis of a hard counter to the hammer train meta’s sustainability. Just don’t think a lot of people have considered trying to run them in sizeable groups…especially not since the engineer got AoE stability as an option.

There are many havoc guilds and roaming guilds. Try them out !

From what I can tell its not that guilds only recruit guardians and warriors. Those just make up the backbone of many WvW guilds, so they need a lot more of those classes than they do Engineers, and they may already have enough of those.

Like others have said, check out the havoc or roaming guilds. That’s a role an Engineer could do very well playing.

My guild does WvW most of the time and we don’t care what class you play.

Just come to SBI. Their are guilds that would have you as an engi. Sure, most zergs don’t seem to like them, but a lot of our guilds have roamers, defenders, and haok groups.

I’m sure that their are guilds that would let you roll as an engi on our server, as we like to have fun while playing (most of us that is). Also, a good engi is better than a bad guard or war.

Agree but not talking bout engis only, a good player is better than a randoom heavy armor.

Seems its easier to level and gear a heavy armor than actually get some skills hehe.

Looks awesome, to bad they are in another server.

Yesterday i finnaly found a guild that doesnt have a problem with engineers, i do play other classes of course and when needed i can switch.

Look in different places than here. Find the server specific website and ask there. Lots of WvW / PvE guilds could care less what you play.
