Armor damaged by falling in EOTM
Throughout the game it seems pretty standard that your armor is damaged when you die in a fight, but not from falling damage. But in the edge of the mists, falling off the side of the thing causes armor damage that needs to be repaired.
I know it’s not a huge cost, but I wish it didn’t. I don’t mind if another player knocks me off, but if I’m just exploring and fall, it makes more sense for it to be like usual and not have the cost.
It is probably there to discourage people (or entire zergs) from just leaping off the cliff the moment they see a group heading at them.

Ah.. this is a good point. I just wish it didn’t discourage exploring the map, too. I guess once I know it as well as I know the other maps it won’t be such an issue.

I’ve tried this, but my armor is still damaged.
Weird, seems to me WP while falling didn’t damage armour… Will have to check it out tonight… :s
I think the rule is you take damage if you get defeated while in combat?
No, in EoTM, you take damage if you fall off the edge (fall happens in two times: first, off the map, second, over spawn area, where the player dies and have to WP). I usually WP in the first fall when not in combat and take no damage…
Maybe WP in the second fall damages armor?

Yop, tested it, and if you WP in first fall, there is no fall damage, but if you wp after (in second fall), you take armor damage.
I still prefer to mist form and leap to my doom then be spiked..lol..at least it seems like your option to die not theirs to kill you >.>

That’s interesting. So if you can be very quick, you can avoid the cost. This seems like one isn’t intentional.
If any devs are reading this, my feedback is to make it the same, ie take away the armor damage in both situations, since there’s no apparent reason one should have it.

The reason is that it’s not fair to take away someone’s kill if you jump out of reach… The first fall is not long enough to get out of combat, but you are out of combat in the second fall.
So it’s all to prevent people from running away using the void when a fight is not to their advantage…
You dont think plummeting to earth from the sky should cause a dent or two? O.o

Bahahaha, I do the same thing. I’d rather them not get the satisfaction of finishing me off and jumping on my corpse and /laugh me so I give them the finger and mist form off the cliff.
It makes sense to try to stop players from just jumping off when they are about to lose a zerg vs zerg battle. Imo it should be changed to where you can’t get out of combat while in the air. However, they should change it to where falling while out of combat does no armor damage. That way you only take armor damage from falling off a cliff if you were in combat prior to falling.
