Its funny its been over a year now.. and skill lag is still a major issues in wvw in these huge fights that u guys advertise.. just gonna shine a little light on this matter.. your huge epic fights.. are not that epic when they are huge.. please fix this issue.. as it has costed me many deaths.. thanks! hope to hear back.

Seriously though — skill lag is one of the worst technical problems in the game right now.

Why do people keep assuming that they are not doing everything the can to fix issues like this?
Threads like these make is sound like ArenaNet simply sits on their backsides all day doing nothing. Problems like these are most likely extremely complex to fix in a good way, and therefore takes time.

Personally I have not have much issues with Skill Lag since the latest wave of optimization.

It is a gamebreaking problem for ALL players, but yet it doesn’t seem to be a priority. It’s like having a car with brakes that take 5 seconds to activate once you’ve stepped on them, but instead of fixing them, they add another brake pedal.

People make that assumption because it’s been a known problem for a whole year sir.

Yes, it is a known problem. But it is definitely NOT a gamebreaking problem for ALL players. Sure it might hit everyone now and then, but it is not gamebreaking most of the time.

And knowing a problem doesn’t mean it will magically change itself. It still need work, and they ARE working on it and HAVE made changes that HAVE lessened it.
Funnily enough the “gamebreaking problem” wasn’t really that gamebreaking and big before the league and influx of new players started, so clearly it is only “gamebreaking” during certain times (which of course is bad enough, but I wouldn’t call it gamebreaking if it didn’t actually effect the game at ALL times or at least most of the time).

The issue is in the engine of the game itself, in order to fix that a big chunk of changes would have to be made to the engine. Which will mean having to redo making Gw2.

Its not going to happen, obviously. They work on minor things to help people along, mostly those on lower end PC’s. But even the biggest gains in optimization are so small it goes unnoticed.

Increased skill lag is the price you (we) payed for removing culling, others have said it, and it does seem to be true.

Skill lag has nothing to do with lower end PC’s. It’s completely server-side.

They can optimize things for lower end PCs that do suffer from the load on their computer that suffer delays, lag and framerate issues that have a similar effect as skill lag. This does make the game slightly more bareable for lower end pcs.

It does not solve the issue when the player-side hardware isnt the limiting factor.
