Enough already! The Living Story 2 week cycle is killing WvW! This one is the worst yet.. everyone is jumping in because of the farming potential. FFS! Even I am forced (yea – I know – no-one is forcing me but come on!) to PvE to get the massive amount of loot on offer.

No-one seems to be in the BLs yesterday Prime Time .. they were all at the Queen’s Jubilee.

Stop with the 2 week cycle, and so making us panic about how much time we have to get the rewards and achievements. Spread back out to monthly updates so we can enjoy the real game here.

One thing I will say for it though – those Pugs certainly seem to be able to stick to the Commander’s tag!

I think there’s a difference between feeling forced, and wanting to scope new stuff out.
I’m a die-hard WvWer, and it’s basically the only thing keeping me playing this game, but when they roll out new content, I gotta at least scope it out. I’m sure that’s the way most people feel. Even if they introduce 3 new mini-games, and only one of them turns out to be remotely interesting past a few tries, you still gotta see it for yourself. Just be glad LS updates are on tuesday when most weekly matches are already decided. Imagine story update on friday nights.

I generally take a while to get used to new things and this new system pretty much means I’m not gonna be doing anything they introduce. I’ll generally just be in WvW as the content just isn’t there long enough for me to try and get used to it. I would love it if they had the content around for at least 2 or 3 months.

Good thing is that there are generally less queues when they release new stuff. It’s a shame they don’t update on fridays, as that’s generally the worst day for WvW, and to some degree the rest of the weekend.

I have to agree with the OP at least make some “Living WvW story” rewards to counteract or something…

Hard enough to get people into WvW let alone when PvE happens.

Funny thing, my server (Far Shiverpeaks) just got 1st place in our WvW match-up before the 2 week update came. Today we are on the second place with 5k+ points behind 1st and only about 1,5k points ahead of 3rd. Pretty much lost more than 11k points compared to current leading world since the content update came… :/

… the servers you are fighting have people doing the living story too, so what’s the problem?

Ultimately, I think the living story update this week will end up deciding the SoR/BG/TC matchup. Closest match I think I’ve ever seen.

I am starting the conspiracy theory that this is all ANET’s way of “improving” WvW by essentially paying people to leave it to fight mind-numbing computer baddies.

Anet should sell WvW to another company. A company with WvW dedicated servers and a development team. I’m willing to pay for that.

I think they have proven that they can’t manage WvW and they will just let it die if it continue.

Personally, I like the change of pace.

Also, WvW is still a casual PvP mode, so I’m not sure what it is you’re expecting? Numbers will always be varied, depending on what ells is happening in the game.

u gotta see it this way:
wvw=broke, no gold, no weaponskins, no nothing, u spend a lot of money on food,siege, upgrades.
now pve brings a patch where u actually can make money, get mats, get skins… guess whats in my head right now:

“soo i farm 2 more hours and i can buy more superior siege, upgrades and have a pretty weapon”

There are 2 lines in my post which give a clue that it was as much tongue in cheek as it was serious. I’ll leave you to work out what those are.

And as for the point that Zacchary made.. yes, I know it only JUST came out. 2 weeks after Cutthroat Politics came out, which also came out JUST 2 weeks after Bazaar came it! The point I was trying to make, is that the LS is going to be JUST coming out once every 2 weeks. If you can’t see the significance of that, then why the kitten are you in WvW at all?

And then you go to WvW with all your new skins and gold and siege…. except everyone else is also back there farming. But that’s cool… you can PvD and win the match-up for your server!

Don’t get me wrong – I have nothing against PvE .. but give me some breathing space!

I love WvW as much as the next person but a break from it can be a good thing. Can we just be somewhat happy they are putting new stuff in the game that is actually fun to do? Most of the living story stuff so far has been pretty boring, but they did this one well. The fights are decently tough, they are easy to join in on and the pacing (even the escort quests) is spot on.

Agreed that this has created a boring day in wvw but it is exactly that… A DAY. Give it a few more days and it will be back to the usual zergy lag fest that it once was. The funny thing with the new content is it’s one big pve zerg….. made me laugh to see it and the loot its gives for the effort put in is ridiculous. I made like 8 g in a few hours. gg wp np. No wonder this game is full of scrubs.

This would be a great suggestion … except that ANet coded GW2 on an outdated game engine and it would require a lot of time and money to port the game over to an engine that actually did WvW justice. I suspect it would be cheaper and more effective for another company to start from scratch and also provide the opportunity to fix some fundamental flaws in the process … like switching to an instanced matchmaking scheme instead of server vs server vs server.

Ya that’s the thing with this update.. I love it because of it’s farming potential; it’s ridiculous how good it is.. and it’s fun.

If the server match-ups aren’t even next week in WvW, there will probably be a mass drop in WvW participation and a huge increase in living story event participation.

With the current farming potential there is no motivation what so ever for servers to participate in blowout matches.

I’m still trying to figure out why they nerfed things like Union wp farm only to put in a new zone that’s essentially designed as a huge loot pinata.

We were two on map taking the garrison back for 30 mins on Gandara. After failing the lord room, we had to ask in our kins for help (sic) because nobody logged onto the map in all the time (sic).

This is because its temporary. People HAVE to complete the new content before it goes away. Make it permanent and problem solved

+1. This sucks.

On top of taking away from other aspects of the game because it’s “LIMITED!” , it’s an easy way to mask bad content. We don’t expect much because it’s every two weeks. If there is bad content the player base (for the most part) will just say “eh, it’s only two weeks” however if it’s good content then the player base will rush to do it all in the two weeks it’s available.
