IMO not really, I have never had a more boring week than when we were roflstomping 2 T2 servers, and even though the T1 matchup gets old after a while, there are still fights to be had all the time. I’d be far less likely to quit because of tier stagnation than I would be because of things changing for the worse.

As a T1 player we need our own league there’s no reason to have us face off against even our closest non-T1 rivals, it’s just a blowout every time.

Completely agree. This gold league is not going to be fun for anyone except for the 1 week when 1-3 and 4-6 play each other.

Theoretically – they make separate league for T1 : BG/SOR/JQ.
Everything’s “Balanced” for quite some time, then suddenly people start transferring and stacking lower tier server X and it becomes just as strong as BG/SOR/JQ.
What happens next?

Separate league seems to me a short term fix.

I don’t know, maybe the points should scale according to the population – outnumbered server gets x2 points for capping a tower while 70 player zerglings get 0.5x points.

I personally agree with this.
I think the top 3 are in a league of their own.

4-9 would be better matches than 1-6

SoS, Mag, TC, FA, SBI, DB I think would be a fun league for most.

I’m sure the 10-15 servers aren’t exactly salivating having to face the top of what will be silver. SBI has been facing these servers for a month, we know the result.

1-3 can be platinum league
4-9 can be gold league
10-15 or 18 can be silver league
16 or 19 to 24 can be bronze league

I think that probably would provide the best matches.
Just my opinion though.

If you truly want to de stack a tier 1 server we should look at the core problem. Tier 1 is composed of WvW centered populations while PvE and everything else loses quality, and they all know that…..

They all know they are destabilizing PvE and are happy and don’t care…

So simply connect PvE to WvW in a way, which measures the PvE activities on a weekly basis to buff WvW just like WvW buffs PvE on a weekly basis….

…and all of these problems, start going away as stacked WvW servers now have to think of population and this entire concept of mothballing an entire server population to do well in WvW ends…

I’m in TC and are population is balanced, we can win in tier 2 but can’t score second place in a WvW match since any guild that feels they are losers and unhappy in WvW will simply stack a tier 1 server.

…and yes, its true,

There are tier 2 guilds transferring to tier 1 because they want to be on a winning server for the best league rewards.

I will be happy once guild wars 2 reaches the level of fair play that guild wars 1 was along with the build complexity the game had. It’s going to be funny when every single tier 1 server carries the most points ands the developers see that the idea of evenly matching WvW servers in this game has failed.

Quite frankly… where are you getting your data? Both JQ and SoR (I’m honestly unsure about BG as I have never guested there) have huge PvE populations as well as huge WvW populations. I an happily say that Overflows do happen often at boss events after reset, even mid-day (looking at you Shatterer :P)

Tying PvE to a mode of PvP is asinine. Sure there are Verteran Wargs and Wurms, but WvW is still a form of PvP, or Zerg v Zerg or Blob v Blob, whatever you want to call it, but it is not PvE and should not be dependent on PvE imo.

Which then brings on a host of other problems like ascended grind for predominant WvW players / players with a multitude of alts but that’s a whole ’nother ball of wax.

Edit: Actually BG did wipe Teq first, i’m sure that has to be a good representation?

There’s going to be coverage discrepancies up and down the ranks, but the disparity between 3 and 4 is the most vast difference in the game. (4 and 5 was pretty steep, we’ll have to see how things work out with both losing numbers).

They need to create some drastic reasons to destack T1. All the recent changes have created more reason to stack there, they have to create reasons to leave or otherwise they’ll be able to do 2 leagues in Season 2 1-3 and 4-24

I agree there is going to be no challenge from 1-3 vs the rest of the bracket. Even though there are occasional good fights in 1-3, I still find it boring to play the same servers week after week.

Also what of rewards. Everyone in T1-3 just get those rewards? Or do you limit those just for that bracket?

If 1,2&3 have their own league, then 4,5&6 will dominate 7,8&9. So, then 4,5&6 will need their own league. Now 7,8&9 will dominate 10,11&12, so 7,8&9 will nee….ehmagerd nvm you see where I’m going with this. There’s no way this system will ever work no matter what.

Which is why there never should have been a league in the first place. Waste of resources better spent on addressing the population/coverage issue, or any one of the other major WvW issues.

Actually, forget about changing the brackets; because that’s not the problem.

The problem is that the only reason they did this was to boost gem sales (sorry I refuse to accept claims of ignorance on ANet’s party anymore).

You know what would also help gem sales?

Lowering map queues and locking T1 from anyone transferring in.

Think about it, all that moolah! All these guys just bandwagoned into T1 have exhausted their gold banks. They have nothing left and now they are facing even odds and 7 hour queues!
It’s not like Devona’s Rest or Crystal Desert has fundraisers for transfers going on, so these guys will have to BUY their gems!

Not only will their be a massive influx from that, but the rapid inflation in relation to Trading Post prices will also make Gem to Gold conversions more popular than ever!

So how about ANet, want a fantastic quarter and the Christmas Party to end all Christmas parties?

Or do you want to spend the holidays working on your resumes and waiting for hiring managers to comeback from vacation to do interviews?

Anet dropped the ball on WvW population imbalances when they decided to keep free transfers open for 5 months longer than they promised when the game came out. It’s pretty clear a large overhaul is required to fix it, that anet doesn’t have the inkling of ever doing so, and this problem will go with this game to its grave.

My hope is if we ring the bell enough, they’ll pay attention and finally get on it.

I dont think you win anything for winning your league just the weekly match. To me getting a single prize for coming in third is great.

I think the only thing they should do is show in Server stats. Which guild did what during the week for that server. What player did what. That would make a zerg lets valued since you could have a competition within your own server.

Alternate…

GoldT1 3 servers
Silver T2-T4 9 servers
Bronze T5-T8 12 servers

Please do this if this is easier…

I think everyone who plays the game knows that T1 needs its own league.

Really the question is whether ANET realizes it, or if they need the league to fail before they make a change.

Are T 2 and T3 servers that big of kittens, that they are afraid of losing and being spawn camped by superior numbers. Come down to t8 and see what it is all about. Stop getting you panties in a bunch, dry off your tears, and take it like a man. Get better or lose trying.

Now that I have insulted you…. :-) Here is the real solution. It is a big brother team system.

So a solution that they could use to frame this league thing and help better balance out the server population discrepancy. Why not form teams from the leagues that use total points from all three servers to count towards a combination score? This makes sense to help even out populations between high tier and low tier servers knowing that their overall score is tied into the lower tiers as well.

1. would be paired with #12 and #24 = team 1 ; #2 would be paired with #11 and #23 = team 2; #3 would be paired with #10 and #22 = team 3 (and so on…)

The weekly score would be a composite of each member of the team. We would still have 3 golds, 3 silvers and 3 bronze servers for the league.

This would make the stack less likely to occur, and would mix things up from season to season. Also the pairings would provide incentive for Higher tiers to help coach or even transfer to middle and lower servers. The formula would also reduce stacking as it would be difficult to gauge a definite winner given all of the factors.

I know that it is just an idea I had, so I am sure if the great minds at anet get a hold of it they could definitely tweak this someway (or find a way to strip of us our cash in the process, I am not on their payroll so I will not be given them any of those great ideas here either) . Is there any reason a format like this would be horrible? It can’t be worse than the 7 weeks of spawn camping most of us have in front of us now.

We’d ideally like a competitive Tier 2; but ANet seems to have made the continuing effort to prevent that as one of it’s key metrics for success.
